Pikete. This one is different. It’s my first product, a sauce brand inspired by my Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage. It took months of recipe testing, R&D, sourcing, and production. We’re live with two flavors and starting small, direct to fans, and with a few local placements.
As an artist, it’s exciting to offer something so unique in our lineup of ways to support my career. Food and travel are things I’m passionate about, and I’m excited to share that experience with others. As artists move away from dependency on streaming as a core revenue stream, I can imagine them exploring new products and experiences to offer their core fan base.
Creators have been doing this for some time. The expectation is that I should be a chef with a strong YouTube channel and subscriber base that then goes off to launch a sauce or food product—or perhaps a cookbook. Maybe I am building backwards, but if I do, I’m going to make sure it’s something authentic and that I care about.
Not to mention, it’s something I’ve been exploring for around a decade, as I share on our website. Back in 2014, I dreamed of opening a food truck in Orlando, FL. Then came the idea of launching a beverage. I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but I knew I wanted to create something that brought people together—just like music does.
I never imagined that the connection with music could be the key for this to succeed.
We’re creating sauces and future food products that can go beyond the kitchen, representing a lifestyle, a voice, and a movement, pa’ la cultura.
Let’s get this one out of the way. I hate the term consumer, even though I’m building in CPG! (APG - Artist packaged goods sounds fire though!)
With Pikete, I want to dive deeper. I want ambassadors and a community of not only current and future fans but people that want unique and bold flavors. People who want their lives made easier in the kitchen, with healthier alternatives than what’s currently available for the Hispanic kitchen.
Starting with sauces because they’re fun, exciting, playful, and I can get my hours and experience in. Feedback has been incredible - over 20 bundles sold, wholesale orders, interest from local restaurants, and the reviews have us feeling extremely proud and grateful for all of the support.
Personally I find this opportunity to be one of the biggest and most exciting. The brand, story, and purpose have creatively been pouring out.
Check us out!
