Builders of internet things are always looking for productivity boosts. Even the most disciplined tech founder has vices, escapes, corners of their computers to which they retreat for moments of mindlessness.
Building in Public is a useful practice for gritty founders to counteract vice. It enforces accountability, builds credibility, and lets others connects with your authentic online self (not just when things are going well).
I’m somewhat internet-averse in the same specific way that people of my micro-generation are (I was born in 1983). We are that segment of Americans who grew up alongside home internet. Not until adulthood did I have interests that were internet-native. I’m historically grounded in the Real World (TM).
But now the Real World is the internet world. So while I tend to be a lurker on social media, I long for more gratifying internet life.
That’s why I am building a personal audience on the internet.
I want to attract people who are interested music, web3, art, product-led growth, startups, crypto, and also many other things on the internet that I like at the same time that I like them.
I aim to share my ideas, learnings, and goals with the world as an antidote to doomscrolling. Distraction is my enemy. I am committed to supporting and amplifying founders, companies, communities, and ideas that I care about, and ignoring the vast amounts of nonsense that slither at the speed of light through fibre optic tubes and into your eyeballs.
The great David Perell talks about transitioning from consumer mindset to creator mindset. The creator mindset require putting out a signal for others to tune into. This is part of that signal.
My goal is to liberate myself from the energy-suck part of the internet, and plug into the good part of the internet: The part where freedom, creativity, and connection flourish.
Welcome to my signal! Thanks for being here.
