I can confidently state that no one has anywhere near the sufficient evidence to call this man a terrorist or claim he attempted to assassinate anyone. ICE is being given complete cover from the admin and DoJ to be as murderous as they want against civilians. There's very little difference between the admin's management of ICE and the rise of the Gestapo.
If the admin didn't want riots they wouldn't be pushing for evil shit like this. Reality is: they're thirsting for rioting so they can use the Insurrection Act and fulfill their revenge fantasies they've held onto since the George Floyd protests.
Republicans need to do the right thing and remove him ASAP. He's drunk/delusional with power. He's going to destroy everything that's been built to make the world a more stable place over the past 70 years.
The (wannabe) emperor has no clothes, and it's time to disregard the opinions and justification offered by people who still support him as being entirely ignorant or self-interested and bringing about the downfall of this country.
No sane person should think that the Executive has this much power granted to them by the Constitution. This is de facto economic warfare against our allies, initiated by one man alone. Republicans in Congress must act.
Everyone needs to understand that for Stephen Miller and the people behind current immigration policy, there are no good immigrants. Legal or illegal doesn't matter, they want to make the US inhospitable to foreigners because they are deeply sick, morally bankrupt people.
So Nick Shirley does some shoddy "on the ground reporting" uncovering supposed fraud that was either already investigated or under investigation. The WH, with the attention span of a dog surges resources and ICE to MN. ICE do what they're best at, insane excessive violence to civilians, and kill a woman. Trying to save face, the DOJ pressures MN prosecutors to investigate the killed woman's partner, resulting in the resignation of the Prosecutor who originally brought to light the fraud.
Do we realize how fucking stupid this all is? How absurd and ineffective an admin obsessed with media and incapable of admitting mistake is?
This pathetic excuse for a man is the one aiming to replace Powell. Such a sniveling statement.
Anyone with a brain should understand that unless you're willing to do everything Trump wants, there will come a moment that he turns on you and pulls every lever of executive power to attempt to punish you. Respectable people would never work for a man like that.
VP Vance has earned respect for taking his Catholic faith seriously, adhering more closely to Church teaching than other politicians. But his comments about the woman shot by ICE, labeling her a "terrorist" despite video evidence proving otherwise, put his soul in danger.
This is the sin of Calumny: lying to destroy a reputation. It is a grave sin. It is the same tactic the Pharisees used against Jesus when they brought false witnesses to accuse Him of crimes He didn't commit to secure His execution.
Catholic teaching is clear: You cannot be forgiven for public slander without public restitution. You must fix the reputation you broke.
If Vance refuses to publicly correct the record, he remains in a state of obstinate grave sin. At that point, his Bishop has a duty to intervene, potentially even withholding Communion, until the Vice President stops bearing false witness against the dead.
This isn't happening because of "left wing terrorist networks", it's happening because ICE is being pushed out of its element without proper training and kitted out for violence. They're ill prepared and being actively encouraged by DHS leadership on up to the Whitehouse to be as brutal as they can, directly and indirectly.
Anyone with the split second instinct to shoot to kill in the situation we saw in MN yesterday is not someone who should ever have power over others and needs to be removed from civil society.
The fact that the admin jumped to calling the driver a 'domestic terrorist' is about as Orwellian as it can be.
Trump's little press conference on AF1 last night demonstrated that the war hawks are definitely in charge right now and Trump and his cabinet are essentially drunk with power after the success in the capturing of Maduro and the bombing of Iran's nuclear program.
The total disregard for how he postured during the election as a dovish president is foreboding imo.
It's important to ask the question "What will success look like?" This is the question I pose to all Trump supporters in this moment with regard to Trump's actions foreign and domestic.
With the tariffs we've seen very limited benefits and a lot of negatives. The US markets underperformed international markets, we've lost thousands of manufacturing jobs, and got essentially no trade deals done.
8 months in and success looks very far from what Trump promised on 'Liberation Day'
With Venezuela we've got Maduro, but his hand selected VP is still in charge and we're talking about sending in oil companies to invest in rebuilding their infrastructure and profiting from their oil production.
Maybe I'm missing something but it all feels very half baked and 'success' for us and the Venezuelan people is not currently in sight.
