Today is Splash Down Day in San Diego, so I'm rockin with the NASA shirt.
Early this evening, Orion is set to re-enter and land off the coast to complete the Artemis II mission. It's a bit sad that it will be too far off the coast to watch from land, but exciting that it's happening here nonetheless.
I took the "VIP" tour (meaning I just paid extra 😂) of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston a few years back and remember talking to the guide about the Artemis missions and how they were preparing. It was pretty astonishing to see the work that was going into preparation, and the technical engineering that it took to make this a reality. And it was cool how supportive and open they were about what SpaceX and Blue Origin were doing.
I think the coolest thing was how they had an exact replica, down to every single wire, of the shuttle there at the home base, to be used for troubleshooting on land if anything went wrong in space, so they could relay to the astronauts exactly what to do.
Anyways, it's just really cool to see what we talked about then come full circle, and it completes right here at home.
