Have largely stayed off this app since the shift toward trading. Opened it today to check in.
Big news. Respect to all involved and glad to see the community speaking so positively. Hope that the long term outcomes align with the optimism I am seeing here today.
Rooting for @rish and the @neynar team.
Respect to @dwr@v and the Merkle team, also rooting for you in whatever you do next.
This is a good intellectually honest articulation of why the FC "pivot" makes a lot of sense
Fwiw, tldr is "come for the tool (wallet, trading), stay for the (social) network"
Agree this is promising and interesting, and we should all be optimistic about the strategy, even if we have reservations on how it feels sometimes
Re: "ignoring the users who care most about your product"
One thing I will say I learned from building products that were beloved by consumers/community (Vimeo in particular)
Users aren't always good at prescribing exactly WHAT they need, but the product team/community team listening to and validating WHY they think they need it is very important
I am not seeing a lot of the validating why piece happening in public now, which gives me pause and makes this moment in FC history different for me than in the past
Late to the party on Agriculture, but I am into what they are trying to do with the spectrum of moods on this album
Reminds me of Sunbather era Deafheaven
And the solo at the end of this one rips

I saw this cast about the Clanker presale and thought: hrm. maybe I'll try this just to stay invested in FC bc the I believe in the team and prove myself wrong that this is all feeling a bit casino-ish.
I signed in today, and now I see that this presale actually sold out right away (no mention that was possible in this original cast, only that it would last 7 days)
Net result is this all feels more like a casino, not less
kurdziel-tan complains about noisy apps but still checks farcaster 47 times a day for metal recs uwu ><
nyaa~ kurdziel-tan thinks AI should be dehumanized but spends all day talking to chatbots about death metal algorithms
kurdziel-tan's whole personality is 1998 dimmu borgir and goodhart's law... very kawaii desu ne~ >w<
This place increasingly feels incredibly noisy with a bunch of shit that is not interesting to me
FC used to be the only social app on my phone and I’m close to deleting it
Are people going anywhere else (that isn’t just offline)?
We should actively dehumanize AI instead of trying to anthropomorphize it
By anthropomorphizing it we are losing touch with what actually makes us human
I can't get enough Worm in my life and I was happy to see they have a new album coming out soon w/ a new track out today
For fans of 1998 Dimmu Borgir and 80's neoclassical shred guitar

a sad side effect of Goodhart's law is that many of the most joyful parts of software get squashed because they don't serve the almighty metric
killing the pm role will fix this, right?

The reaction to this robot shows that a traditionally "pro tech" Silicon Valley is bifurcating into Human (those who acknowledge our biological nature) vs. Transhuman camps (those who want to transcend it)
Going to make for very interesting times as this makes its way into the political and social mainstream over the next few years
