Good afternoon! Yesterday, I was doing some more research on pixel art and came across a technique called HD Index Painting from about 10 years ago. I haven't quite grasped the mechanics yet, but the results seem to create vibrant and detailed sprites.
In my last blog post, I talked about Grafx2 and trying it out, but I couldn't find the tracing tool. I explored other options and found an app called PikoPixel, which I'm going to test soon. For now, I'm sticking with the browser-based editor at Pixelart. Check out my profile there and leave some feedback if you have a chance! The link to my gallery is right here.
Animation is a whole different beast – I've only dabbled in it a bit, but I dream of using it to express more in my art someday.
Here are some pixel art facts for the day:
Pokemon Overworld character sprites are typically 16 x 16 pixels.
Full-character sprites in the first and second generation of Pokemon games are 56 x 56 pixels.
And now for some memes...
I didn't follow the Eigen project and the whole restaking narrative, but if this meme holds any truth, maybe we should start calling them D-eigens.
