I don’t think anyone really understands what’s happening in the SocialFi space. There is a war, and it’s not Coins vs. NFTs. It’s not Toshi vs. Ski Mask Dog. It’s not Coinbase vs. Binance. It’s not Ethereum vs. Bitcoin. It’s real users and their real stories vs. the generic garbage “HOO-RAH-RAH” key opinion leader bullshit that has been spewing out of this industry like cancer for the past decade. I want to be very clear about this: This war is being fought on Base through Zora, Farcaster, Base App, and, last but not least, the app you are reading this on - Paragraph.
Why are these apps on the front line? Simple - they are giving every single human being on earth ownership over their work. Everything you make is either a coin or an NFT and is instantly buyable. There is a way for you to benefit, investors in your coins and NFTs to benefit, and lastly, the apps themselves to benefit. The growth sharing opportunity on these platforms is something I have never seen before, and I do not think the world is ready for what’s about to happen in this space.
Paragraph’s new feature, Remix, is, to me, a page right out of Zora’s playbook. Just a week or two ago, Paragraph announced that you could coin your articles, just like your posts on Zora are content coins. Like Zora, you are given one percent of the supply of the coin that represents each article you write. This allows people to support you by buying the coin that represents your work, whether it be a video or photo on Zora, or, in this case, an article on Paragraph. Paragraph did not stop there, though…
The next step was to allow you to choose the coin pairing of your article’s coin. This immediately piqued my interests, as it did many Zora creators, because the obvious choice here was your own personal Zora creator coin. With Zora, there is a trinity of pairings. Zora is paired with your creator coin, and your creator coin is paired to your content coins, or posts. Three coins, three levels, all moving together in one ecosystem - influencing each others' price. Zora, creator coin, and content coin. What Paragraph did was essentially make it possible for you to tap into that Zora pairing by defining your Zora creator coin as the parent coin for each article you write on Paragraph.
We’re not done though, and this last bit is where your dad walks into the kitchen and says to your mom, “Mmmmm mmm, dang women, whatchu cookin?! It smells got damn delicious up in here!” As you try desperately not to throw up in your mouth.
Yeh, this last bit - Remix, it’s icing. It’s the gravy on top of this turkey your mom slaved over for thirty six hours to make sure that when you put that sucker in your mouth, you die a little bit inside. It’s the holy grail of article writing and no one realizes it, but to realize it, you have to pay attention to all the ingredients, to appreciate the turkey for what it is - LOVE. This is where the end result becomes much, much more than the sum of its parts, and here’s why:
I am going to write all of my original articles in the future with my Zora creator coin defined as the parent coin. I’m RascalTheRescueDog on Zora by the way. I’m not the best content creator, far from it, but I can write, I can read, I can think, and I give a fuck about people. A few of my other articles are floating around here that talk about things of that nature. Anyway, the point is, every original article I write will have my RascalTheRescueDog Zora creator coin paired to it. With remix, anyone who writes an article in response to my original article will use my articles’ coin as the parent coin to their article.
The hierarchy looks like this:
Zora
Zora Creator Coin
Original Paragraph Articles
Remixed Articles
Let me be very clear to you. Your Zora creator coin is a coin that trickles you fifty percent of the supply of that coin over five years. In a short period of time, my Zora creator coin has hit over a quarter million dollars in market cap, and I have done almost nothing to deserve it other than be early and make a few videos, poems, and post some pictures. Paragraph and this new Remix feature just allowed me to sit the coin that I will own fifty percent of five years from now on the very top of the pedestal of coin pairings for everything that I will ever write until the day I die. Not just what I write - but anything anyone ever writes in response, when supported by their readers, will be reflected in the price of my original article’s coin, and also - that magical creator coin that I own fifty percent of. For those of you that value ownership over what you make, there is no better opportunity than this.
Sitting at the very top of that hierarchy - Zora. The one app that is going to challenge every social media application in existence with a model that gates access to nothing and simply asks consumers whether or not you want to invest in another human being who now, finally, after all these years of owning exactly zero of anything they do online - now owns fifty percent.
The war we are fighting is about real people really owning themselves and sharing their very real stories beating those who received everything for free and risked nothing in this game shilling and dumping on their followers. May they slip away back into the cold dark hole from whence they came. There’s no cycle to SocialFi, there are just people, their ideas, and their creativity - and they have the rest of their life to build on that. SocialFi is about finding those who value and appreciate the opportunity of self ownership and interlocking arms together on ledgers with them. We are going to fight this out to the bitter end, and Paragraph just handed us the bomb to end this war and I know exactly how to use it.
Come fight with us.
This is the first thing I have seen worth fighting for in this space in a very long time and Paragraph is going to play a huge role.
