The best conversations happen when someone puts a thoughtful idea into the world, and others engage with it: adding context, offering critique, expanding the scope, or taking it in a completely new direction.
Too much of the internet today rewards the opposite: short-form dunks, quick takedowns, and fleeting hot takes. We believe there’s a better way for ideas to spread — one that rewards thoughtful responses, makes the best discussions easier to find, and sparks even more conversation.
That’s the spirit behind Remixing, our newest feature on Paragraph.
We're rewarding the top 3 remixes of this post with up to $500 - read to the end for details!
Now, when you come across a post that resonates with you, inspires you, or where you have something of value to contribute, you can remix it and respond with your own post, building on the idea, pushing the conversation further, or taking it in a totally new direction.
When a post is remixed, the original author benefits from their writing being shared with more readers and to see their ideas spark new waves of creativity. The writers that remix the post benefit by tapping into a pre-existing audience and discussion, instantly having their work exposed to more readers.
Also, for those that have a hard time getting into a habit of writing, or feel stuck staring at a blinking cursor, responding to a post by remixing it is a great way to get into a consistent rhythm of writing.
Remixing creates space for ideas to strengthen and spread, while rewarding the people that bring value to the discussion.
Remixing is the first extension to our recently released Coins feature, our effort to help writers feel appreciated and rewarded for their hard work.
Here's how to remix a post:
On any post with a coin, click the "Remix" button at the top.
In the modal, after you choose "Start remixing", you'll be taken to the Editor to write your remix.
Once you're done, publish and share your remix.
After you've published your remix, your new post gets its own coin, and that coin is automatically linked to the original post's coin. As either post gains traction, both coins benefit.
If a popular writer gets people excited about an idea, and you remix it with a great follow-up, your coin is lifted by that momentum.
If your remix resonates and takes off, the original coin benefits too.
Rather than a system that encourages dunking and take-downs in as little words as possible, we hope this creates a rising-tide-lifts-all-boats dynamic around thoughtful discourse, and powerful incentives for everyone to support each other's work.
We’ve seen firsthand that coins are a powerful way to support writers and signal what’s worth reading. With Remixing, that power becomes collaborative. Writers can now invite others into their creative process and share in the value they create together.
Remixing is available today for everyone on Paragraph. Just click the Remix button at the top of any post and start writing.
Remixing is one of the first meaningful extensions of coins and we're planning to ship publication-level coins in the next month. But this is just the start — we'll keep exploring new ways to help writers earn from their work and give readers better ways to show appreciation and support.
Remix this post and share your ideas! We’ll reward the top 3 remixes (based on market cap) at noon EST on Friday, August 29th: $500 USDC for 1st, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd.
We’re excited to see how you use Remixing to build on ideas, grow your audience, and collaborate in new ways. Share any feedback or remixes you publish with us on Twitter, Farcaster, or by sending us a note at hello@paragraph.com.

Wouldn’t it be better to reward writers based on merit rather than support? Some truly talented writers may end up buried with little recognition. After all, the whole purpose of this feature is to help writers earn more through remixes. Choosing winners based on supporters instead of clear, simple, and polished human writing seems counterintuitive though I do understand why you’d factor in market cap and support.
We're totally open to it for future contests! Out of curiosity, how would you go about measuring "merit", or deciding winners based on "merit"?
I've made my own version of this new mechanic that is great: https://paragraph.com/@lenonmc21/the-era-of-chain-writers-is-coming-the-new-remix-feature-has-arrival
I see synergy! I see collaboration! I see talents being given platform to showcase their expertise!

Rewarding "remixing" is a way of combating dead Internet theory and promoting growth through thoughtful conversations and longer attention spans. Fully support this approach!
Cool feature. I tried remixing it from my own angle using the 5 Stages of Grief, testing it out here: https://paragraph.com/@landdiore/5-stages-of-grief-remix-on-paragraph

Back with the 47th edition of Paragraph Picks, highlighting the top six remixes (so far!) of our recent announcement post. Writers have been sharing their ideas for how to make Paragraph better. As a reminder, the top 3 remixes with the most support as of noon ET this Friday (8/29) will earn $500 USDC, $200, and $100. Check out the top remixes so far, support the ones that resonate with you, and remix our announcement post (linked below) for a chance to earn rewards. https://paragraph.com/@blog/a-better-way-for-ideas-to-strengthen-and-spread
@stellaachenbach shares a list of improvements for Paragraph, including better discoverability, token integration, more focus on mobile UX, and reader highlights. "Every creator I have been talking to struggles with those two: discoverability and monetization." https://paragraph.com/@stellaachenbach/journaling-or-my-paragraph-wishlist
@samchalom reframes Paragraph’s Remix feature as a creative lifeline for new writers, turning the fear of the blank page into an invitation to join a living, collective conversation. "Maybe originality is not about creating something that has never existed, but about taking part in a conversation that never ends." https://paragraph.com/@ayastudio/blank-page-to-remix-a-path-for-new-writers
@nickysap makes a compelling case that Paragraph’s long-term growth depends on solving discovery, arguing that without better ways for readers to stumble into great writing, even the best writing will stay locked in a bubble. "Discovery is the flywheel. If people can’t stumble into new writing they love, they won’t stick around." https://paragraph.com/@48hrs/discovery-is-the-flywheel
@jpfraneto.eth shares a rapid fire list of ways Paragraph can level up, from fixing mini app bugs to enabling customization, gamification, global print editions, and deeper onchain interoperability. "get writers paid: i don't really know the answer to this, but the first time i streamed on retake made me 450 usd. this is epic." https://paragraph.com/@kithkui.eth/8-ideas-to-disrupt-substack
I love this new Remix feature, but regarding the opportunity to earn rewards by remixing the post, how are the prizes determined? The original post says that whoever has the highest market capitalization at the end wins the top three spots, but the first place winner is the same wallet that bought that token. What I mean is that it could be easy to manipulate the system to get into the top remixes. I could do the same with mine and position myself, but that's not the idea, especially if we're basing it on the content that's shared most, not the currency itself. I know it's not my contest or my money, and you are completely free to choose the winners you want, but in my opinion, the winners should be chosen based on the quality of the writing and whether their remix is based on the content of the original, not on market capitalization.
I don't disagree per se, but how do you define quality?
Yes, this is complicated because quality is very subjective. The reality is that when it comes to written content, everyone has their own essence, and every piece of writing has its own quality, unless the content is very brief. So, thinking about it carefully, defining it by quality would be very complicated. A good metric would be by number of readers, but these are just thoughts and ideas, although I understand that the least complicated way is by market capitalization in each piece of writing.
I m on my 3rd draft over a week and hoping this will be my debut on paragraph. ⭐️
Help us shape the future of Paragraph! Remix our announcement post with your ideas on how we can make Paragraph better, from new ways for writers to earn to better ways for readers to support the work they love. The remixes w/ the most support will earn these rewards: 1st – $500 USDC 2nd – $200 3rd – $100 Head to our announcement post & click the "Remix" button, then publish and share! https://paragraph.com/@blog/a-better-way-for-ideas-to-strengthen-and-spread

I love the concept of remixing but I don’t really understand the coins. It’s not possible to opt out of them? “you've published your remix, your new post gets its own coin, and that coin is automatically linked to the original post's coin” This means every individual post has a separate coin? For context, I’m a “non crypto person” so having trouble following the benefit of this versus allowing someone to mint (which I’ve seen people do last time I used Paragraph).
Thanks for the note & feedback! For a non-remixed posts (ie any post you start from scratch in the editor), you can totally disable coins. For a remixed post, the primary purpose is to reward folks that remix with their own perspective, stories, etc., and share it with their network & bring in new readers to the discussion. The way we’re currently doing that is through coins and the idea of linking these post coins so that when one coins grows, the other coin benefits as well. It’s fairly common for people to reference & link to other posts or writers in their writing without remixing. Our goal was to see if we can greatly amplify this type of collaboration thru remixing. Thanks again & let us know what you think, or any other questions.
Okay did this late but here is mine https://paragraph.com/@0x08d203bebff96424e2da86979aa3d9681b32837b/remix-like-music-but-for-writers?referrer=0x5aC458605D40B266DB51069aA2dEea72B8266b83
Uhuhuhuuuu you do not have to ask twice! Let's do it! Please tell me I have until tomorrow to put something solid together?
By end of tomorrow would be plenty of time!
Thank goodness, this week has been challenging my calendar tbh 😆 , but don't want to miss out on it and really curious to try the new function!
If you are remixing an article, how does this work with using your Zora creator coin (or any other coin) if you want to define one. Can you still do that, and if so, is it like setting up different liquidity pools for your Zora creator coin at that point? Thanks CCing @winberry Because I think this might interest you. Thanks for showing me this remix feature.
I answered my own question after playing around with the settings. It's a custom pairing you can setup. I thought you could swap out your creator coin with the article coin directly, not a pairing. I get it now - so the remix is an auto pairing to the parent article. Makes sense. Very cool. So if it's a response article and use remix, I use the parent article's coin in the pairing. If it's an original by me, I can pair to my Zora creator coin. What's really cool is - if I use my creator coin on the top level article and get a ton of remixes, that ultimately benefit's my creator coin that sits at the top of the liquidity pairing of all the remixes. @winberry - this is pretty neat.
This is exactly correct: So if it's a response article and use remix, I use the parent article's coin in the pairing. If it's an original by me, I can pair to my Zora creator coin.
I'm following you—so cool! I hope the remix feature picks up steam, for many reasons including, as you say, it's pretty neat.
When does this end?
Today (Friday, 8/29) noon EST!
I keep getting an error when trying to make my post. What can I do to fix it? Or am I too late?
Excited to announce Remixing on Paragraph: a new way to reward thoughtful replies, valuable takes, & personal stories that make original writing even better.
