Effective date: July 28, 2026
Paragraph helps people and teams research, create, publish, and distribute their work. These guidelines apply to everything you provide to or do through Paragraph, including prompts, files, posts, websites, newsletters, subscriber lists, comments, generated content, connected services, and actions performed by an agent or automation on your behalf.
You are responsible for your content, the instructions you give Paragraph, and the actions you approve or authorize. AI-assisted or automated work is held to the same standards as work you create yourself.
We may remove or restrict content, pause an email send or automated task, limit distribution, disconnect an integration, or suspend an account when we reasonably believe these guidelines have been violated. We consider context, newsworthiness, severity, and the risk of harm when enforcing them. To report a possible violation or appeal an enforcement decision, email tos@paragraph.com.
Follow the law and respect people's rights
Don't use Paragraph to break the law or violate another person's rights. You must have the rights and permissions needed for content, data, and materials you upload, connect, generate from, or publish. Respect copyrights, trademarks, publicity rights, confidentiality obligations, and privacy rights.
Don't publish another person's sensitive or private information without a lawful reason and appropriate permission. Don't threaten to expose private information or encourage others to do so.
Be authentic
Don't impersonate a person, business, or organization, or misrepresent the source of content or communications. Don't use Paragraph to create fake endorsements, deceptive testimonials, fraudulent claims, or manipulated media intended to mislead people about a real person or event. You may use pen names and parody when they don't mislead people about who is behind the work.
Don't use Paragraph's name, logo, or trademarks in a way that suggests an affiliation, endorsement, or relationship that doesn't exist.
Don't promote hate, harassment, or violence
We allow good-faith reporting, criticism, and discussion of controversial subjects. We don't allow credible threats, targeted harassment, or content that praises, promotes, or incites violence against people. We also don't allow attacks or calls for exclusion or violence based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or medical condition.
Don't facilitate harm, exploitation, or illegal activity
Don't use Paragraph to plan, enable, or promote fraud, theft, trafficking, self-harm, violence, malware, unauthorized access, or other harmful or illegal conduct. We prohibit sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate content, and any sexual content involving minors.
We don't allow pornography or sexually explicit material created primarily for sexual gratification. Written erotica and artistic, educational, medical, or journalistic depictions of nudity may be allowed when they are lawful and not exploitative. We may limit their visibility or distribution to protect readers and comply with the rules of our service providers.
Don't spam, phish, or manipulate distribution
Don't use Paragraph for phishing, scams, malware, deceptive promotions, fake engagement, search manipulation, or repetitive low-value content created mainly to capture traffic. Don't bypass platform safeguards, hide the origin of a message, or use an agent or automation to behave in ways that would violate these guidelines if done manually.
Email and subscriber lists
Only email people who gave you affirmative permission to hear from your specific publication or business, except where a message is genuinely transactional and permitted by law. Don't use purchased, rented, scraped, harvested, or other lists for which you cannot demonstrate that permission. An imported list must come from a service where the same recipients already opted in to hear from the same publication or business.
We may require evidence of subscriber permission, including the original service, signup source, timing, consent language, and current subscription status. We may pause imports, email sends, scheduled sends, or automations while we review that evidence. If you cannot substantiate permission, you may not send to the list through Paragraph.
Identify yourself accurately, use honest subject lines, include any sender information required by law, provide a clear way to unsubscribe, and honor opt-out requests promptly. You must comply with applicable communications laws and the Twilio Acceptable Use Policy and Twilio SendGrid email requirements.
Affiliate links and third-party promotions
Don't use Paragraph primarily to advertise or distribute third-party offers, generate affiliate commissions, collect leads for third parties, or drive recipients to third-party sales funnels. This includes publications that use articles, advertorials, or repeated promotional messages mainly as a path to external offers.
Occasional sponsorships and affiliate links are allowed when they are incidental to substantive original content, relevant to that content, and the material relationship is clearly and conspicuously disclosed near the promotion. Email containing these promotions may be sent only to recipients who affirmatively opted in to the specific publication or business.
Don't use redirects, shortened links, or tracking infrastructure to conceal a promotion's commercial nature, material relationship, or final destination. Ordinary analytics and click tracking are allowed when they are not deceptive. We may consider the content and practices of third-party destinations you promote when enforcing these guidelines.
Health-related promotions
Health-related advertising and promotions must be truthful, not misleading, and supported as required by applicable law. Don't claim or imply that a product can diagnose, prevent, treat, or cure a disease or health condition without appropriate substantiation. This applies to claims in your content and claims at third-party destinations you promote.
Use connected services responsibly
When you connect Paragraph to another service, you must follow that service's rules and only access accounts, workspaces, and data you are authorized to use. Don't direct an agent to collect, publish, or act on information that you couldn't lawfully access or use yourself.
Payments and monetization
Products, services, memberships, and fundraising offered through Paragraph must be lawful, accurately described, and permitted by our payment providers. If you use Stripe, you must comply with the Stripe Services Agreement and Stripe's prohibited and restricted businesses. Access to payment features does not mean Paragraph or a payment provider has approved your offering.
Communities and comments
These guidelines apply to readers, commenters, and community participants too. Publication owners are expected to moderate their communities, but we may review reports and act directly when content or conduct violates these guidelines.
Updates
Paragraph and the ways people use agents will continue to change. We may update these guidelines to address new features, risks, laws, or provider requirements. If a change is material, we'll provide reasonable notice.
