Zarathustra (also Zarathushtra, Zoroaster) was a prophet in Ancient Persia, the founder of the doctrine named Zoroastrianism in his honor. This religion prevailed in the territory of modern Iran until the fall of the Sassanid dynasty and the beginning of the rule of Islam. It is believed that Zoroastrianism had a strong influence on the later Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
