Today one of the designers reached out and wanted to talk to me, I immediately felt it must be something bad, and I was right. She complains about another team member, let’s call her Ginny.
Yeah it’s Ginny again, everyone knows about her, every company has a Ginny. So Ginny’s not supporting her work and arbitrarily decided to cancel her project. While I feel it must be some kind of a communication issue, I can totally feel her.
This is one of our “Autonomous” company culture where you never know who can decide what, most of the time the toughest one win the competition and all of us have to execute his/her plan. And Ginny is the winner in this system. She tends to do whatever she wants, step on toes and expect everyone to obey her well, and when someone’s against her, she would strongarm it, sometimes even go ahead talking shit about you in front of the founders. And for some reasons founders tend to consider those strong personality a sign a good capability and want to keep them. I fell in that trap many times before. But then I learnt how to act good and do nothing more at work, like everybody else.
I hope she died soon.
