At Automata we work on protecting privacy and fairness. And in this newsletter, we find more reasons to talk about it. Explore headlines and catch up on the biggest crypto news in Web3 privacy.
This week:
RAILGUN announces Private Proof Of Innocence (PPOI) tool, proving to users that they do not interact with malicious actors without compromising anonymity
Brave Wallet boosts Ethereum security with ERC-4361 support, introducing anti-phishing measures when signing messages
Norturne announces successful deployment of v1 to Ethereum, extending on-chain private accounts to the ecosystem
Op-Ed:
CoinTelegraph discusses the role of privacy-first content solutions, such as ReadON, in catalyzing the adoption of Web3
CoinTelegraph explores the potential of Privacy Pools in striking a balance between privacy and regulation
Zooming into ZK:
Near and Polygon team up to launch ‘zkWASM’ prover, enabling Web Assembly networks to integrate with Polygon ecosystem
Research investigates how zk-SKNARKS can facilitate private transactions on Ethereum
OKX announces Layer-2 network ‘X1’ utilizing Polygon’s ZK-based CDK
Immutable zkEVM Testnet undergoes regenesis, transitions to a Geth-based client
Aleo co-hosts ‘SNARK Tank’, a ZK pitch competition, with Bitmain at Devconnect
We dive into the details, so you don’t have to:
OKX, a leading crypto exchange, has revealed its plans to launch a Layer-2 network named ‘X1’ utilizing Polygon’s CDK. Expected to launch in Q1 of 2024, X1 will leverage Polygon’s zero-knowledge technology. With the introduction of X1, OKX engineers are set to play a pivotal role as core contributors to Polygon’s CDK as the project progresses - and OKX’s native token, OKB, will be used as gas fees on the blockchain as well.
Near and Polygon have teamed up to create a zero-knowledge prover, zkWASM, specifically tailored for Web Assembly (WASM) blockchains. This will allow WASM-based networks to become part of the Polygon ecosystem for the first time. The development of zkWASM is also expected to enhance scalability and increase decentralization for the Near network by reducing computational overhead.
