Gegen 2:30 Uhr unserer Zeit hat das Team um Regisseur Todd Phillips auf den Knopf gedrückt und den ersten Trailer zu „Joker: Folie À Deux“ veröffentlicht. In der Fortsetzung des Oscar-prämierten Films aus dem Jahr 2019 – ein güldenes Figürchen mit ging sehr verdient an Hauptdarsteller Joaquin Phoenix – wird neben besagtem auch Lady Gaga zu sehen sein. Es war bereits im Vorfeld bekannt, dass Arthur Fleck bzw. der Joker (Phoenix) mit Harley Quinn eine weitere prominente Figur aus dem Dunstkreis des Clownprinzen des Verbrechens an die Seite gestellt bekommt.
Wie schon beim ersten Teil wird auch „Joker: Folie À Deux“ sehr mit prägnanten Farben spielen. Ferner wird Musik offenbar eine große Rolle spielen, aber auch das war im Vorfeld von Todd Phillips so angekündigt. Filmverleih Warner Bros. kategorisiert den Film mit den Schlagworten Drama, Thriller, Musical. Ich bin ziemlich gespannt auf den Film, muss ich sagen, da mir der erste Teil als düstere, dramatische Charakterstudie einer gescheiterten Existenz sehr gut gefallen hat. Bisher habe ich es in diesem Jahr noch nicht ins Kino geschafft, obwohl beispielsweise „Dune 2“ auf meiner Liste standen. Spätestens zu diesem Streifen aber werde mich wohl in das nächstbeste Lichtspielhaus begeben. Könnte direkt auch losgehen jetzt.
At around 2:30 a.m. our time, director Todd Phillips and his team hit the button and released the first trailer for Joker: Folie À Deux. The sequel to the Oscar-winning 2019 film—Joaquin Phoenix more than deservedly took home the golden statue for his performance—will feature not only his return as the titular character, but also the addition of Lady Gaga to the cast. It was already known ahead of time that Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. the Joker (Phoenix), would be joined by another iconic figure from the orbit of the Clown Prince of Crime: Harley Quinn.
As with the first film, Joker: Folie À Deux appears to lean heavily into striking color palettes. Music is also set to play a major role—something director Todd Phillips had hinted at early on. Warner Bros. is labeling the film as a Drama, Thriller, and Musical. And I have to say, I’m pretty excited about this one. I really liked the original for what it was: a dark, dramatic character study of a failed existence.
So far this year, I haven’t managed to make it to the theater yet—even though Dune: Part Two was high on my list. But this one? I’ll definitely be heading to the nearest cinema for it. Honestly, I could go right now.
