Da ich in den letzten Wochen wenig Zeit dafür hatte, mich hier mit Musik zu beschäftigen, gehöre ich wohl eindeutig zu den letzten Spatzen, die es von den Dächern pfeifen. Dennoch ich pfeife nun mit: „Construct“ heißt das neue Album von VNV Nation, das am 9. Mai 2025 erscheinen wird. Eine, wie es heißt, „optimistischen Mischung aus Klanglandschaften, Melodien und emotionaler Tiefe“. Irgendwann später in diesem Jahr wird ein Schwesteralbum folgen, konsequenterweise „Deconstruct“ genannt. Dann allerdings mit einem deutlich düstereren Touch wohl.

Ronan Harris, der Mann hinter VNV Nation, hat passend zum Osterfeste eine zweite Vorab-Single veröffentlicht: „Station 21“. Und wenn man eine Idee bekommen möchte davon, wie sich diese oben genannte Mischung wohl anhören mag, wird mit diesem Track wohl bestens bedient. Es ist eine dieser typischen Hymnen aus dem Hause VNV Nation, die auf Konzerten die Stimmung in nochmals höhere Sphären steigen lassen. Eine dieser Hymnen, deren Refrain man schon beim ersten Hören zumindest mitsummen kann. Besucher*innen der jüngsten Tour wurde diese Nummer auch schon live vorgestellt und entwickelte sich der Überlieferung nach direkt zu einem echten Gassenhauer.

Ich muss sagen, nach „Silence Speaks“ und nun „Station 21“ blicke ich sehr optimistisch der Veröffentlichung des neuen Albums entgegen. Nachdem „Noire“ und „Electric Sun“ vergleichsweise düster ausgefallen sind, können wir - nicht zuletzt angesichts der aktuellen Weltlage - ein bisschen musikalischen Optimismus sicher gut gebrauchen, denke ich. Jedenfalls so lange, bis „Deconstruct“ uns wohl auf den Boden der Tatsachen zurückholen wird.

Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Ich hab Bock und es kann direkt auch losgehen jetzt mit „Construct“. 

Since I haven’t had much time to focus on music lately, I’m probably one of the last to catch on—but hey, better late than never, right?

To mark the Easter weekend, Ronan Harris, the man behind VNV Nation, dropped a second pre-release single: “Station 21.”
And if you’re wondering what that optimistic blend might sound like—this track gives you a pretty great idea.

It’s one of those classic VNV anthems that lifts the mood of a concert crowd into the stratosphere.
One of those songs where you can hum along to the chorus by the second time it hits.

Fans who caught the most recent tour have already been introduced to “Station 21” live—and by all accounts, it’s already become a proper crowd favorite.

I have to say: after “Silence Speaks” and now “Station 21”, I’m feeling very hopeful about the new album.

After the comparatively darker tones of Noire and Electric Sun, I think it’s safe to say that, given the state of the world right now, we could all use a little musical optimism.

Even if it’s only until “Deconstruct” inevitably brings us crashing back down to Earth...
