No Smoking, No Drinking, you’ve heard it all. But changes don’t have to be that dramatic to make your lifestyle a lot healthier. Here are the 7 small changes that will improve your health drastically:
DISCLAIMER: This is no medical advice, use it at your own risk.
Sweetener instead of sugar The opinions on whether artificial sweeteners or normal sugar are worse differ heavily. However, if you want to lose weight to improve your overall health, you should prefer sweetener over sugar, if in doubt.
Stairs instead of elevators I know, I know. Who would want to miss the comfort of standing around in that little metal room for a few seconds and then exiting at your desired floor? Nevertheless, those few floors you will climb every day will bump up your heart rate for a few minutes and also improve your overall health. Also, from now on, you’ll be the sporty guy in the office everyone is jealous of ;)
Standing instead of sitting This one’s pretty self-explanatory. However, at the same time, it might not be possible for everyone. Maybe ask your boss if they would be able to get you one of those standing desks.
Reduce soft drinks to a minimum We all love a cold coke, don't we? But maybe try some sparkling water with ice and freshly cut lime. In my opinion, it tastes a lot better, and is healthier by a lot!
If you don’t need it for the taste, leave the alcohol out Next time you’re out for dinner with your friends, maybe try the non-alcoholic beer. I think that they’ve become so good, you won’t taste a difference at all if served cold.
Meal Prep instead of fast food Just make yourself some spaghetti with tomato sauce at home, split it into 5 portions, put them in lunchboxes, and off in the fridge they go. Now take one of them to work every day and put it in the microwave for a few minutes. Repeat this every week with whatever food you like.
Healthier, cheaper, and yummier.
Healthy. Snacks. In my opinion, this is the most important tip of them all. Having a well-balanced diet over the day is great, but then eating 2 bags of chips in the evening isn’t. It may sound weird, but believe me; Next time you’re craving a bag of chips or a bar of chocolate, eat an apple or a banana first. If you then still want to eat some chips, go ahead. But I guarantee you, 90% of the time you’ll be satisfied with the healthier option that you just ate.
