Tomorrow, SLOE JACK will become the first artist ever to debut exclusively on Sound.xyz.
We hope Jack will pave the way for brand-new artists aspiring to break in the web3 music space.
Who is SLOE JACK?
We discovered 19-year-old Melbourne talent SLOE JACK with just a handful of demos to his name, and he’s quickly blossomed into one of our favorite new artists.
As a singer-writer-producer and self-described “noise machine,” he takes influence from punk, hip-hop, and electronic to produce a raw, energetic sound that’s both cathartic and cutting-edge.
Why debut on Sound?
By starting in web3, SLOE JACK will take steps toward a sustainable career quicker while retaining more ownership than just by the traditional route; this will help demonstrate that there are legitimate opportunities for brand-new artists (without established connections and large streaming numbers) in the web3 space.
When working with brand-new artists, we’ve learned to avoid recoupment-based deal structures that put them in the red, offering more flexibility instead. For SLOE JACK, the proceeds from Sound will be some of the first that he can put directly into his career, allowing him to start in the green without signing a traditional, exploitative, long-term deal.
Why SLOE JACK, specifically?
Before introducing SLOE JACK to web3, his charismatic personality and self-motivated work ethic were obvious; he went above and beyond with clever song teasers, hand-drawn characters, and a distinctive creative vision.
Instantly likeable and eager to engage, he took the initiative to get involved in our Discord server and connect with as many people as possible, quickly becoming one of DND’s most active members. Beyond that, anytime we teased his music, it struck as strong a chord with the community as it did when we discovered him.
Jack’s musical talent, artistic vision, positive attitude, and focus on community indicate a special career ahead, especially in the web3 music space.
Why should Sound debut SLOE JACK?
Although we collectively acknowledge the potential for music NFTs, like Sound, to be a means of stamping trust in brand-new artists for the long-term (while concurrently funding their projects), there need to be exciting new artists in the space from day-one to realize that potential.
SLOE JACK’s debut on Sound can be both a significant step forward for brand-new artists in web3, as well as a big win for the entire music NFT space.
