On Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, we hosted Blockchain Ioannina, the first public event of Epirus DAO, and what a night it was!
More than 90 people gathered in Ioannina, the capital of Epirus, to explore blockchain technology, attend inspiring talks from our guest speakers, and connect with like-minded people. What we witnessed was a wave of energy, curiosity, and meaningful conversations — proof that something new and exciting is being built, block by block.
The evening opened with Spiros Bounas, founder of Epirus DAO, welcoming everyone and sharing a short introduction to what Epirus DAO is all about — cultivating a culture of self-organization, co-creation, and collective action, using blockchain as a core tool.
Up next was Yiannis (a.k.a. Varavas), Cardano Ambassador, who delivered a captivating 40-minute talk on the creation of Bitcoin and Cardano — tracing the evolution of decentralized systems and their deeper purpose.
Then came Effie Kavoura and Petros Maragos, both Bitget Builders, who gave an in-depth overview of the Bitget platform, showcasing its advantages and powerful features.
After that, Haris Housos (a.k.a. Knowhow92), co-founder of Epirus DAO and founder of the Skatehive community, shared how a global skateboarding community is using blockchain to build its own economic and creative ecosystem.
The final talk belonged to Petros Maragos once again, this time presenting the Avalanche ecosystem and how to actively participate and grow within it
While the talks came to a close, the evening was far from over! After a final thank-you from Spiros, the giveaways began — with dozens of prizes and 200 USDT distributed to lucky attendees thanks to Epirus DAO and Bitget.
And of course, we had classic crypto-style networking: conversations, community, soft drinks, and pizza .
We wrapped things up with an after-hours hangout at Skala Bar Cafe — the perfect ending to a warm and inspiring night.
