InfoFi is finally filtering out the noise.

Posting slop might pay now, but it won’t win long term.

Everyone was asking me to pivot from onchain to yapping because it’s been so profitable.

Why would anyone be active onchain if it pays more to spam posts about a project every day and earn $15k with a single airdrop?

But those who continue down this route will eventually become irrelevant.

AI can outcompete and post slop at scale to dilute your rewards.

And it’s a good thing I chose to reject the current InfoFi meta, as it’ll likely change with the latest Kaito update:

In this current state, there is nothing at stake when users yap about a project.

And when attention is the main metric, the incentives lead accounts to stray away from their authentic selves:

They would choose hype/drama over providing value.

That’s why the timeline is full of AI slop:

Most choose to farm engagement to get views.

Without slashing or penalties for inauthentic behaviour:

They continue to get airdrops at the expense of those who decide not to Yap.

So why would anyone want to build a credible brand when yapping is way more profitable?

But I don’t understand how accounts can Yap about a product that doesn’t even work.

And there’s only so much we can talk about a project just based on their documentation.

Though the projects did ask for it when they launched a leaderboard when there’s nothing to talk about.

It’s sad to see more and more accounts pivot to full-blown yapping, especially if they don’t even believe in the project they’re talking about.

Most just generate noise, rather than posting genuine content.

Lots of posts are basically just saying nothing with a lot of words.

But this meta will soon change:

Reputation now plays a role in leaderboard rankings on Kaito:

We need a minimum threshold of influence before being able to monetise.

This makes a lot of sense since other platforms also have a minimum requirement that accounts must hit.

It won’t make sense for Twitter to let any account earn ad revenue.

So it also makes sense that Kaito would introduce a requirement for accounts to hit before they rank on the leaderboard.

The main contention now is how strict the criteria will be, as this affects small creators.

Yaps and Smart Followers will be more sought after than usual, but being obsessed with them will burn you out (just like it did to me):

So I won’t worry so much about Yaps and just let them come naturally.

Instead, I would focus on this:

If we want long-term wealth, we have to build a future-proof brand.

And not one that maximally extracts based on whatever social capital we currently own.

Our brand needs to be more than just about Kaito or Yapping, as they could be irrelevant in the future.

Instead, build a brand that displays your true authentic self, and get paid for doing that.

Talk about things that truly interest you, and not just ones that pay the most.

Otherwise, you will burn out.

But for small accounts that are concerned about how this affects monetisation, here’s my only piece of advice:

Yes, we all want money which is why we’re in this space.

But the longer we can delay monetising our content:

The greater the returns we’ll receive.

It’s amazing as a creator to get paid while writing about what we’re interested in.

But to reach a level where that monetisation remains sustainable:

Our followers need to trust us enough to consistently interact with our content.

And they will only trust us if we continuously provide value to them.

While creating billboard slop just destroys our credibility, and our followers may even mute us.

Optimise for value and build trust before even thinking about monetising our audience.

It’s tough when we see screenshots of other Yapper allocations, but there will always be other opportunities.

Others are reaping the rewards because they built their brand even before the InfoFi meta.

While others are purely extracting and they will soon become irrelevant.

So choose to follow your own path and focus on the only factor you can control:
