Recently, Sandbox launched their Alpha Season 3, filled with new experiences.
Overall enjoyable, but there was one in particular that got me bullish on Sandbox and crypto gaming in general: the Ledger experience, ‘Ledger’s School of Block’.
For those that don’t know, Ledger is a hardware crypto wallet. On their map, I had to learn about the blockchain, NFT’s, crypto security, all through fun quests.

Throughout the game I was learning how to spot scams, getting cool gear through solving security quizzes, which I then used to battle spammers. I had fun and I also learned that your wallet doesn’t actually hold your coins, but only the keys to your coins. Embarrassing, but thanks Sandbox.
All this made me think: can you gamify education to make it fun to learn hard and boring topics like crypto security? Instead of a dry classroom setup, you could solve equations in the metaverse, unlock better gear for your character.

Continuing on the topic of education through gaming, what if we combine it with advertising? Looking at the Ledger experience, most people don’t even know why they would want a hardware wallet, so first educating the consumer through a gamified experience should increase conversion rate drastically.
You learn about the dangers of crypto - the problem. They offer the Ledger wallet - the solution.
The principles stay the same, but comparing this model to a conventional commercial, there is a lot of untapped potential in this new cross-over between gaming, education and advertising.
At the end of the experience you just finish the quests and ideally you’re left with a thought: ‘Maybe I should buy a Ledger wallet’. But what if in the future this gets enhanced?
What if as an incentive to play their experience, you know that if you finish the level you get entered into a raffle for a chance to win 1 of 10 wallets? How many more people would play this experience as opposed to other experiences?
Then, at the finish line, as a reward you find a panel that gives you a limited time discount on one of their hardware wallets, if you pay for it in SAND tokens, adding more utility and demand to the token as well.
This is one of the reasons why I think Sandbox can become a very valuable metaverse project, where big companies are incentivized to build fun experiences, adding a completely new way of generating revenue.
