Last Thursday, the hum of possibility echoed through a sun-drenched warehouse loft in Williamsburg. Perched on 7th Street, the space looked ordinary from the outside. But stepping inside revealed something more, an intimate, intentionally curated gathering of creators, collectors, and crypto pioneers. It was the eve of the FarCon Summit, and Onchain Creator House had set the tone for what the next generation of content creation might look like.
Conceived by Humpty, the charismatic founder of Crypto Sapiens, Onchain Creator House was built on a simple idea: creators deserve a seat at the table. Not in the margins, not after the devs are done, but in the mix, building culture onchain in real time.
From the moment doors opened, the vibe was clear: this wasn’t a conference, it was a creative salon. Morning light streamed in as guests grabbed coffee and fresh pastries before mingling in small, animated clusters. Lightning-style talks kicked things off, including a session with Farcaster evangelist Prof Werder, who shared insights into Purple, a DAO focused on growing Farcaster's ecosystem.
But the day’s biggest unlock came from the Base team. With a single QR code, attendees gained beta access to a new native social feed built on Farcaster rails, fully integrated within the Coinbase app. It was a seamless moment of onboarding. As someone quipped beside me, "That’s based."
Attendees were invited to participate in a creator hackathon, completing challenges from platforms like Matcha, Rodeo, Own the Doge, Octant, Pods, Farcaster, and Base. This wasn’t a dev sprint; it was a sandbox for social storytellers. Boys Club’s Natasha and Cait captured mirror selfies with trademark ease, while Naomi, a British Olympian-in-training, passed around sweets from the UK and filmed collaborative content with her new onchain friends. The line between creator and community blurred beautifully.
During the event, I sat down with Lucas, co-founder of PODS, to discuss how podcasting is evolving in the onchain era. His platform is a glimpse into that future. Unlike traditional podcasting models where creators often struggle to monetize, PODS enables direct earnings through minting and NFTs. The average user sees $800 a month in revenue, more than triple the industry average. But for Lucas, the real value lies in the connection. "You know exactly who’s listening, who’s supporting, who your top fans are," he said. "It makes the relationship between podcaster and audience more real, more alive."
I also caught up with Ted, Farcaster’s first hire and a tireless advocate for decentralized social. For Ted, the magic of Farcaster isn’t just in its infrastructure, though it is robust and thoughtfully designed, but in what it empowers. Ted painted a vision of a social internet where monetization is intuitive, where creators are rewarded not through clicks and engagement bait, but through meaningful connection. Onboarding is becoming smoother by the day, offering newcomers a gateway onchain without friction.
I closed out my roaming interviews with Humpty himself. We sat down between hackathon sprints, his energy still buzzing. "We took a risk hosting a creator-first hackathon," he admitted. "But it paid off. People showed up, they connected. Now we’re taking this format global, Singapore, Japan, Argentina."
Having made the rounds at several major crypto conferences this year, I can say this one felt refreshingly different. It wasn’t about posturing or lofty takes. It was about presence. About community. I ended up skipping other events to stay, vibe-code with a new friend, and get a little lost in the magic of it all.
If Devs build the plumbing, creators bring the water to life. We write the stories, craft the rituals, and build the flywheels that turn experiments into movements. The new internet isn’t just about decentralization, it’s about re-humanization.
Onchain Creator House offered a new blueprint for creator-centric gatherings. One where creativity isn’t a sidebar, but the story.
Let’s hope it’s the first of many.
