putting it plainly, the culture here is gross, boring, and painfully obvious 85% of the brands/companies here only have a backend team. if only that pre-seed could buy culture :’)
like, the amount of times i’ve seen a brand not shut the hell up about their backend tech on Twitter only to find out that they’re a consumer product!?!??? BABY WHAT CONSUMER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND KNOWS(OR CARES) ABOUT YOUR TECH STACK? give me your fun app or get the fuck outta my face!
crypto constantly confuses building for people with building in public. consumers don't care about dev twitter. we just want a nice interface and a reason to come back
genuinely the only people i see doing this right are Zora & Rodeo. those are also the only 2 places i’ve been able to connect with & discover people outside of web3/crypto!! that made me so excited!! i hate seeing the same 10 faces on the same 5 apps!! you guys will never get organic, new users if you continue marketing to the same subset of people on this tiny little bird app.
between the pink washing of shitty apps, girls who act likes incels, and actual incels, i’m TIRED. where are the cool people!!!????
i’m so back & forth with decentralized finance because at the core of it, i love it through and through, but i’ve had a hard time trying to articulate myself when it comes to this because the only thoughts i have are wow this is a pile of dog shit. i’m sad that the more we progress with crypto, the closer we get to the centralized banks & government and being exactly like them. the irony is kinda crazy: crypto was born from distrust in financial institutions, but now it’s crawling back to the state, begging for regulation that protects venture capital, not users. i definitely don’t have an answer to this one but whatever it is, i don’t think that it’s cozying up with the president and pushing bills through that really only benefit your company & shareholders. you love to scream “decentralization!” but the moment their tokens dip, they start acting like lobbyists and hedge fund managers. you want decentralization until it’s inconvenient baby!
I genuinely believe Bitcoin is the closest thing we will get. The founder created it and dipped, allowing the people to use it as they please. I wish all of you were more like him. You guys are trying to fight for power not realizing you look like the same losers we’re trying to build away from.
