Back in the day we used to call them Chinese Walls -- processes and protocols to prevent conflicts of interest in consulting, and other, businesses. These days, we use "firewalls" or "ethical walls" as more culturally sensitive terms.

I have been using a number of techniques to maintain those walls between my clients at Ishikawa Consulting over the years. One technique is to use Rocketbook and Evernote for meeting notes. I use Rocketbook to replace the separate notebooks I used to lug around for each client. Now, I take notes in my Rocketbook and upload notes to separate Notebooks for each client on Evernote.

In addition to reducing the heft and bulk of my computer bag, I now benefit by having my written notes integrated with my electronic notes, all in one place. If my handwriting was clearer, I could probably use Evernote's character recognition capabilities to have my written notes searchable, as well. That would be very cool. Maybe newer AI tools will help.

One downside of my current Rocketbook/Evernote system is that the upload process is manual. The Rocketbook upload process is smooth and easy, but it still is manual. I've been thinking for awhile, that it would be very nice to write notes on my tablet and store them in Evernote, bypassing the manual process. I am coming up on a tech refresh cycle that might be a great opportunity to investigate options:

1. I need to replace my Rocketbook. After many write/erase cycles, some of the pages are wearing out and will no longer take the erasable ink.

2. My iPad (Gen-1 Mini) is no longer supported for updates. I know I know, that's been for a long while, but hassling with YouTube videos is the straw that's breaking this camel's back.

I am wondering if the latest generation iPads and Apple Pencils will allow me to write notes on an iPad and store them directly into Evernote.
