Casa do Ameal is a Mannerist noble house located in Meadela, in the current parish of Viana do Castelo (Santa Maria Maior and Monserrate) and Meadela, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo.

It belonged to the Abreus family of Casa de Regalados, constituting one of the most picturesque civil architecture buildings on the Ribeira Lima route.
It currently hosts integrated accommodation tourism in Solares de Portugal.
History
The construction of Casa do Ameal dates back to the 16th century, when it was owned by the Barbosa Aranha family. In 1669 it was purchased by Pedro Gomes de Abreu, Abbot of Perre, from Máximo Barbosa Pinto for 3500 Cruzados.
Pedro Gomes de Abreu was the son of António de Abreu e Lima, lord of the Atães farm, which he also inherited. António de Abreu e Lima was the grandson of another António de Abreu e Lima, Teller of Tales, who fought in India and belonged to the old Casa de Regalados, head of an enormous land patrimony in Minho and trunk of the Abreu family (Gomes de Abreu - Abreu e Lima).

It is António de Lima de Abreu, son of Pedro Gomes de Abreu, Abbot of Perre, who will inherit all of the latter's assets, that is, Casa do Ameal and Paço de Atães, in Vila Verde.

Abreu e Lima / Silva Families Subsequently, Leonel de Abreu e Lima, great-great-grandson of António de Lima de Abreu, makes a donation of Casa do Ameal to his four sisters, and they, without succession, establish João Pereira de Faria Araújo as heir, his cousin, a family in which he remains today.
