The architectural complex Casa e Capela dos Coimbras is located in the parish of Braga (São José de São Lázaro and São João do Souto), municipality of Braga, district of the same name, in Portugal.
But despite the local continuity and historical affinities, the two buildings constitute two autonomous monuments with different classification.
The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, or Capela dos Coimbras or Capela do Senhor Morto as it is also known, has been classified as a national monument since 1910.
The Palácio dos Coimbras, or Casa dos Coimbras, currently has no legal protection.

History
The Palacete dos Coimbras, built in the 16th century as a residence for ecclesiastics, was acquired by D. João de Coimbra, provider of the Miter of Braga.
In 1525, D. João de Coimbra determined to build a private chapel, under the invocation of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which would become known as Capela dos Coimbras. It was designed by the Biscainhos masters, builders of the Biscainhos Palace.
The chapel, attached to the Church of São João do Souto, even had the hermitage of Santo António dos Esquecidos attached to it.
It was classified as a National Monument in 1910.
In 1906, the Coimbras palace was demolished, due to the urban reformulation of that area, having created Largo São João do Souto. But the Manueline architectural elements are preserved and, in 1924, the building is rebuilt on the opposite side of the street, in continuity with the chapel.
For many years lived in the house Dr. Eugénio Bacelar Ferreira and his family, a traditional family of 15 children. The Doctor. Eugénio Bacelar Ferreira became Secretary of the Civil Government of Braga.
Currently, in Casa dos Coimbras, a bar/restaurant is installed.
Characteristics
Casa dos Coimbras The Casa dos Coimbras has the windows and some of the doors from the old palace, although the format of the Manueline building has been changed.
Capela dos Coimbras The chapel has the shape of a quadrangular tower, divided into two distinct spaces:
galilee, with Manueline ornaments and statuary by Hodart; the interior, by João de Ruão, has the traditional high altar and the coat of arms of D. João de Coimbra. The chapel is covered by a ribbed vault, and the walls have tiled images alluding to Genesis.
