The Commission of Lighthouses and Beacons would later propose the creation of a lighthouse in N.S. da Victoria, predicting the installation of a 2nd order device, giving a white flash and a red one.

As nothing had been done so far, the Commission appointed in 1902 finally decided on the location of the lighthouse and decided to accept the point called Penedo da Saudade, in view of the more advantageous conditions in which this was found. point compared to the previous one. This second point is 25.5 miles from Cabo Mondego and 30.5 miles from Berlenga, in an intermediate position between the two.
The Penedo da Saudade lighthouse came into operation on February 15, 1912, with a 3rd order optical device, large model (500mm focal length), rotating. The light source used was incandescence by oil vapor and the rotation of the optics was produced by the watchmaking machine. It has a tower 32 meters high and 55 meters high.
From March 1916 to December 1919, the lighthouse was out due to the First World War.
The primitive optics would not remain in the Penedo da Saudade lighthouse for a long time, since it was moved to the new Cabo Mondego lighthouse in 1921. From March 3, 1921, until July 27, the lighthouse was switched off for replacement. of the said optics. The installed lenticular apparatus is also of the 3rd order, large model, of rotation, giving groups of two lightning bolts.

It was electrified by means of generating sets in 1947, only being connected to the public distribution grid in 1980, the year in which automation was also started. The lamp, which in 1947 was 6000 watts, gradually reduced its power until it reached the current 1000 watts.
