The Church of Pombal is a monument from 1750, it has a central bell tower in stonework, an interior with rich gilded carving both on the main altar and on the sides; the vaulted ceiling with wooden paintings with which it is lined, the choir, the baptismal font and the beautiful pulpit also in granite are worthy of appreciation.

Pombal is a land whose village is the seat of a parish, it belongs to the municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães, from which it is about 10 km away, with an area of 16.80 km2 and with about 400 inhabitants.
This village is located on the left bank of the river Tua, in a valley, but which includes very steep slopes for the same river. Its ancient references are associated with the Castle of Ansiães and the Church of Marzagão of which it was part. However, we can place its origins in more remote times that go back to the Moorish occupation, as the toponyms Castelejo, Castelo dos Mouros and the Legend of the Enchanted Moorishness indicate.

The parish of Pombal with its Church was established after the formation of Portugal and included the village of Paradela (still attached to it today). In 1866 the village had around 213 households and 880 inhabitants. This number never reached again, although it got closer in 1890 and 1950 when it had 875 residents.
