Let's understand how the Power badge works.Firstly, the Powerbadge is a small purple badge next to your name. Benefits as mentioned:Rank higher in search results.Cast in exclusive Power badge rooms.Increase the chance to be featured under "someone to follow" on the right side.Personally, having the badge hasn't made my life much different from my friends' 😂, but it's probably better to have it than not. Let's look at the rules to get the badge.Earning the badge comes...

Let's take a closer look at what it really is and what opportunities await us. Going forward, we will encounter this term often.
"Retroactive Public Goods funding" is quite long and I haven't paid much attention to it before. But in fact, it's very important. A simple translation would be:
"Funding for those who benefit the community (doing the good first, then the funding follows)."
Simpler than that, it means "those who do good will be rewarded."
The concept of Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RetroPGF) emerged to address an issue in many communities and societies where individuals, known as "builders," contribute significantly but often receive little in return. This could deter people from undertaking such beneficial actions or initiatives.

To ensure that builders who create positive impacts receive rewards, Optimism has allocated a portion of its funding to a fund called Retroactive Public Good Funding (RetroPGF). This has been incorporated into their tokenomics, constituting a significant 20% of the total supply. This means a substantial part of the available tokens is dedicated to rewarding individuals or groups who have previously contributed significantly to the public good but might not have been adequately compensated for their efforts at the time.

As more public goods are created:
Profits for $OP will increase through the sequencer.
A portion of these profits will then be distributed to RetroPGF.
This will encourage more people to create public goods.
Then we grow in loop.
In this way, the OP chain will continue to grow, as illustrated in the diagram below.

RetroPGF has already had two large disbursements, and they are gradually increasing in size.
The first distribution was $1 million in 2021, which went to 58 open source projects.
The second distribution was 10 million OP tokens at the beginning of 2023 (around the time this was written). At the peak value of the $OP token, this was worth approximately $30 million.
This process will continue, forming part of the cycle of Optimism.

As per the graph, you can see that the rewards are steadily increasing in size.

And there are an increasing number of projects that qualify to receive these funds.

This model seems to be working quite well, so we can expect to see it adopted by other coins and chains like Arbitrum, Starknet, and zkSync.
As for Arbitrum, there isn't a clear part like this, but they have allocated a large number of $ARB tokens for holders to decide on their use in the treasury.
It's plausible that other chains will also allocate parts of their treasury for holders to decide on funding for public goods. It makes good sense.
Given the significant amount of funding available, besides hoping for an $OP airdrop, we can create public goods and apply for funding in this area. Our efforts could receive substantial rewards. A Thai individual recently received a grant of 20k $OP (which is already worth a million!).
The list of projects that have received funding and the amount of the grants range from 594 to 557k $OP. No matter the size of your project, you could be eligible: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13QTVuv4HTTDBctRxuqngECUMc70QP4usbmcFT8XT-GI/edit#gid=583271201

Even if you're not a developer, you can contribute as long as you have a connection to the OP Stack.
OP Stack is an open-source group for blockchains that are highly scalable and can quickly exchange information. It doesn't just look at the future of Optimism, but also the broader future of Ethereum.
The funding is divided into three categories as follows:
Infrastructure & dependencies: Systems that use or are built on OP Stack, for example:
Orbiter Finance 6,696 $OP
Cliqute 18,034 $OP
Token Terminal 25,954 $OP
Tools & Utilities: Various tools such as:
NFTEarth 594 $OP
Nested 8,663 $OP
Defillama 171,292 $OP
Zapper 27,792 $OP
Education: Providing knowledge and promoting the use of OP, whether technical or social aspects:
OptiChads 8,606 $OP
thesleeper.eth Thai OP contents (Thai legend and inspiration for this post) 20,380 $OP
L2BEAT 256,294.36 $OP
As you can see, there are both small and large rewards for those who participate. The size of these rewards depends on the votes received. While it's not easy, there are plenty of opportunities. If you are a developer or a content creator, don't hesitate. It's better to take steps forward and contribute to pushing the OP Stack.
