This is outdated. Gitcoin passport decided cheap/free is not good for verifying identity. Only ENS works.
This one costs $2.5 to set as a primary name and becomes a subdomain. But if you directly register an ENS (Ethereum Name Service), it will cost $5 per year. The gas fee during the registration process is around $8.
Setting it as a primary name costs $2.5.
Try to compare and choose what you prefer.

Register a subdomain for free on the OP mainnet.
Go to https://app.ens.domains/(domain).ecc.eth...Replace "(domain)" with the name that your friends have just registered.
To set the primary domain, you will need to pay approximately $2.5 as gas fees on the Ethereum mainnet.
After that, access Gitcoin Passport, where you can verify your ENS.
