Hello there, it’s me again! Today I’ve selected a different kind of image to yesterdays, for my second 365 project instalment (just 363 to go). When I purchased the GR3x I wanted to take a new photographic direction, to explore street photography much more than before. I was very much inspired by other more dedicated street photographers and the way they describe the “Fishing Technique”
The idea is pretty simple, pick your spot, your scene, wait for a person or any subject, could be a cat or dog, to enter the frame. There is a bit more to it though, if you want to get very good at this and that involves using ready-made “props” in the scene. I often look out for geometric lines and shapes, that create a kind of flow through the scene. Even better if a person, walks along your “path” straight into your image. Winner!
Sean Tucker talks extensively about street photography in this video and mentions the fishing vs hunting techniques. He also talks about building confidence when it comes to confronting people both in the positive and negative sense.
So, going back to my own photo above, I stood an waited for someone to walk through my scene. Didn’t take long for this man to step into the frame in front of the arts installation in the centre of Funchal. I wish I hadn’t cut off his shadow though. However two days later I perfect the technique with another unsuspecting person or two. You can be way more sneaky with a small camera than with a big lens system. Especially with Ricoh’s snapfocus feature!
I read this last night, Fer covers a lot of interesting topics in the NFT world and I’ve been enjoying her newsletters for a few weeks since I subscribed to them. I share the latest one and I’ve been making notes, as whilst reading, I’ve been inspired to take a look at various chains and marketplaces. See the next section below where I share some of my other profiles on Web3.
Every now and again, I take stock of where I am at with crypto and blockchains as a whole.
I’m very active on https://peakd.com/@nicklewis on the Hive blockchain and there are a good bunch of people on there. Hive backs a number of interesting dApps that include games, image libraries, music marketplaces, video streaming, podcasting and various others. It’s great for building decentralised projects with. I can send you a referral if interested.

Tez is one of my investments and earning on staked delegations, which you can also do in Hive.
I have two accounts on Rarible, ETH and Tezos, the latter I chose because I can’t be dealing with GWEI gas fees, ouch, they are very much a stumbling block for me.
