It was a long bit of calculus to decide to run for office. I didn’t like what I was seeing in my new home state. The government was growing despite all the efforts of a Republican governor to stop it. Pension funding was slipping. We saw how that nightmare played out in Illinois.
Republicans in the legislature were doing all they could, but in a gerrymandered minority, it was tough. The Lt Governor, who oversees the state senate, was locked out of the chamber while the Democrats tried to pass legislation that would have never seen the light of day. Fortunately, he got in and took control.
Running now was a chance to try and take decisive action above and beyond the more passive action we had been participating in. The state treasurer’s office became a political playground for the far left.
We saw how far the Democratic Party drifted to the left. They taxed us without any thought or mercy at all. The Democratic Party looks at families as a piggy bank, not citizens. They used the government for power, not the citizens. Career politicians only care about themselves.
Nevada has 0% income tax. However, there are other taxes that act like de facto income taxes, which should be repealed.
Nevada could be the wealthiest state per capita in the country if it played its cards right. Developing nuclear power and geothermal power and exporting it to other states would make it a player. Deregulating and getting rid of layers and layers of red tape would see entrepreneurs flourish and development happen.
They are teaching our children a bunch of woke crap that won’t benefit them. They aren’t interested in AI or innovation. They want to stop it. In states like California and Washington, the Democrats are seizing wealth. They don’t see what you took risks to earn as yours. It’s theirs because stoplights worked or something.
In Virginia, Illinois, and other blue states, they are taking away freedom. They don’t respect liberty. They don’t respect genders. The person in the photo below is a man.

When we moved to Nevada, we donated to candidates. We knocked on doors. We donated to conservative causes. We thought our country could not lose another state.
Once states go blue, they only fleece you.
Sometimes, when you get a chance to step up, you should take it. If it is the school board, do it. If it is a statewide office. Do it. People like us, who have no interest in being or becoming career politicians, need to step up because we aren’t fighting normal opposition. They are socialists.
I am not talking about perennial candidates. I am talking about people like me who have never run for anything. Take a chance. The worst thing that can happen is you lose.
Today is the last day in Nevada to file. There are open seats in places like Clark County that are winnable. Jill Douglass can fill you in. Ping her here. Or Here.
It doesn’t cost that much to file, nor to run some races. You will meet a lot of cool people on the journey.
If you don’t run, support candidates with cash and a bit of time. Put a sign in your yard. Tell your neighbors. Post on social media. Support me or donate here.
