I launched /politics because, after over a decade working in politics, I saw how politics happens behind the scenes—and it’s night and day compared to what we see in the headlines or on social media. In the building, everyone has to be civil: you wait your turn, you address fellow members respectfully, and you genuinely listen when someone with an opposing view speaks. Even when you disagree, the point is to learn from each other—ask clarifying questions, dig into the data, and work toward solutions rather than just scoring points. We don’t march in silos shouting at each other; we sit around a table and talk through the details.

That capacity for civil, constructive conversation is exactly what I want /politics to be online. Instead of hot takes chasing clicks, imagine a space where you can post a thoughtful analysis, hear a counterpoint without getting shouted down, and walk away with a deeper understanding.
