What I Wish I Knew Before Building My First Farcaster Mini App
I’m not a developer. But I am someone with big ideas, relentless curiosity and a love for building things from scratch. When I decided to create a Farcaster Mini App, I didn’t have a co-founder or a team. What I had was ChatGPT. And it became my full-time coding partner. That came with some serious upsides and a handful of facepalm-worthy downsides I really wish I’d known about earlier. But before we get into that, let me say this: Even if you’re starting from absolute zero, Base makes...

🆘 Mistake: Turning off your emotions and bulldozing ahead!
Solution: Let your emotions out. If you can’t scream, swear, or even cry in the moment, at least acknowledge to yourself, your brain, and your body that you’ll give it time to process later. And please, do it when you can.
Emotions need an outlet. Otherwise, they’ll find a way to surface somewhere else — often in ways you don’t expect.
🆘 Mistake: Deciding it’s the end of everything.
Solution: They say, “There’s no such thing as a hopeless situation.” Unfortunately, there probably are some. Some situations truly may not have a solution.
But more often than not, when it seems like there’s no way out, try looking at it from a different angle. Search for alternatives, explore new branches of possibilities, and leave room for even the seemingly impossible.
🆘 Mistake: Grabbing at everything at once or jumping straight into complex solutions.
Solution: Start with the simple stuff. It sounds cliché, but if you begin with the easiest option in terms of first steps, you’ll quickly see which path has potential.
Maybe you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes, pulling out your trusty old scooter will do just fine.
🆘 Mistake: If it doesn’t work the first time, why bother trying again?
Solution: Try again. And again. And one more time.
When you can’t solve a problem right away, the temptation to throw in the towel is strong. Your brain, ever the eager helper, will happily supply you with reasons and excuses for why it didn’t work. Don’t listen. Keep going.
🆘 Mistake: Winning one battle and immediately rushing into the next.
Solution: When you manage to get out of a tough or stressful situation, or when you finally solve a problem, don’t jump straight into the next challenge.
Give yourself time to rest, recharge, and bring your emotional state back to normal.
As the saying goes, “The horse worked the hardest in the collective farm but never became the chairman.”
All the points above come from my personal experience.
They might work even better for you — or they might not work at all.
But you’ll never know unless you try. 😉

several of today's dialogues resulted in this kind of “first aid reminder to yourself.” it will take you 3 minutes to read. maybe a couple more minutes for insights. but it will definitely be 5 useful minutes What to Do When Everything Goes Wrong?
