Congratulations, Eddie! I look forward to the next post! Merry Christmas 🎄 Evan
Thanks, Evan! 🙏🏾 Happy New Year!
Peace and welcome! Thanks for joining me here for the first of what I anticipate will be many musings. For those that know me, I don’t say much unless I have something to say (maybe that’s not entirely true). That’s why I wanted to create this space to share some of my ideas and views that inspire me while also learning from readers & others who may share my opinion, those who are indifferent to my opinion or those who think some of my thoughts and/or ideas are downright moronic. With that said, these are just my thoughts, just what I was thinking at the time.
Also, I want to shoutout Fred Wilson @USV. While I’ve never met Fred, I learned about Paragraph while reading his blog, AVC, and decided to use this platform as the medium to communicate my thoughts. While I don’t claim to be a web3 expert, I do believe the future is ownership (future blog post to come) and that we’re gradually moving to more distributed digital mediums and platforms that content creators and users will use to engage with audiences more directly.
For those that don’t know me, I’m a first generation Haitian-American from Winter Hill, Somerville, MA (I make no apologies, you will read a Boston reference anytime I can squeeze one between the lines). I’m a PE & VC investor and also an entrepreneur + operator building in the music tech & AI space. On the investing front, I principally spend most of my time looking for markets, teams and opportunities outside of consensus. My goal at Monte’s Fam is to partner with exceptional teams building critical solutions in large markets and help create generational wealth for builders and investors looking to defy conventional wisdom.
We’ll dive into several of the themes I’m focusing on or interested in in later posts but this is a good time to tell you what this space is and is not:
This space is intended to be a digital citadel of sorts - where I’ll share ideas, learnings and musings I think would be interesting or helpful for others, in addition to myself, while also learning from people who have different view points or subject matter expertise. That is to say, definitely feel free to comment or provide feedback.
What this space is not - this space isn’t meant to be solely about investing or venture. While those areas will make up a healthy amount of what I do write about, I’ll be writing about a broad array of topics that will likely tangentially touch the discipline of investing. Also, this space isn’t meant to be prescriptive; I’m not pretending to have all the answers or I'm not telling folks how and why they should do something (unless of course, I am telling you what I think you should do). The reason being is I truly believe most, if not all, journeys are 1 of 1s; you can definitely take learnings and apply them to your story but no one can tell you how YOU should do YOU or solve / do something that hasn’t been done. Find your own path, carve out your own lane and make it do what it do, baby. And with that, keep an eye out for the next post and be great!
