The Weekly Spin. Fifteenth Edition. Markets were extremely volatile this past week and weekend, with Bitcoin and Ethereum retracing back to $26k and $1.6k respectively, but many major and smaller altcoins bounced back and showed resilience in the face of uncertain sentiment in both the industry and the macro environment as China and Japan’s central banks make waves. There is no understatement of how much the Asian markets impact crypto price movements.
As Coinweb’s Alpha Wallet programme is in full swing, development velocity is at an all-time high and new releases and updates are being launched every other day. Meanwhile, the regulatory scene is stalled with appeals by the SEC, SBF, and lawsuits scattered across the industry ranging from Binance, Gemini, FTX, and Celsius. The UK released its guidelines for implementing the FATF “Travel Rule” and immediately following saw PayPal halt crypto purchases in the UK, Coinbase delisted major stablecoins for the Canadian market, and Singapore issued regulations for single-currency stablecoins ahead of the highly anticipated Token2049 Summit. Dubai announced a 90% discount to their licensing fee to web3 projects, ahead of the WOW Summit planned for early October. Helium mobile launches its $5 unlimited decentralized data plan. Astar launches incubation on Polkadot, reviving its ecosystem and price along with it.
