🎨 The Artist's Manifesto: We Are Not Decorators, We Are Technologists My job is not to provide decoration. My job is to maintain the human operating system.
When I create, I am not trying to solve a puzzle or produce an object for silent contemplation. I am designing a tool (a specific technology built from colour, sound, texture, or code) that performs a vital, non-negotiable function in a world desperate for simple answers.
This premise changes everything I make:
The Work Must Be Used, Not Just Looked At I do not create static objects. I create instruments of engagement. The meaning isn't in the canvas; the meaning is the reorganisation of attention that happens when you stand before it, when you listen to it, when you wrestle with it.
My practice is less about expression and more about provocation. I am engineering a cognitive device designed to break the routine patterns of thought and perception dictated by efficiency culture and algorithmic control.
We Are the Archive of Interior Life In a world that only values data, metrics, and transactions, I am tasked with archiving what cannot be quantified: doubt, longing, revolt, and unpermissioned joy.
When I paint a feeling, I am giving memory without permission to future generations. I am creating a time capsule of the human heart that no government, no company, and no AI can delete. I ensure that the emotional complexity of this moment mutters long after the official narratives have gone silent.
The Insistence Against Disorder The universe trends toward entropy; the dominant culture trends toward easy conformity. My art is an act of insistence. I am asserting that this specific arrangement of sound or matter matters more than the surrounding chaos.
This is not vanity; it is radical meaning-making. It is the human refusal to accept that everything is just random noise. I use composition, rhythm, and form to push back against the slide into disorder, creating temporary, potent pockets of significance.
Smuggling Empathy Across the Line My work is a smuggling operation. I am taking the specific, messy and deeply personal interior world of one person (mine, or the subject's) and illegally transmitting it to another, often centuries away.
I am practicing empathy at scale. I am creating a shortcut to intimacy, bypassing the defensive walls we all build in the exterior world. If the viewer feels seen by something made 400 years ago, my technology has worked.
Rehearsing the Future Through Play I reject the obsession with function. My studio is a space of serious play. I am not trying to be useful; I am trying to be preparatory.
My imagination speculation is the most vital service I offer. I am building the future—not the engineering blueprints, but the emotional, ethical, and visual possibilities—so that when the engineers finally arrive, we have a human context to judge their work against. Creativity must precede utility, or utility will crush us.
🚨 My Function: Fire Alarm, Cathedral, and Spark My true function is to protect the space where we remember how to be human.
I am the Cathedral
I help build and sustain the shared myths and cultural bonds that prevent us from fracturing entirely.
I am the Fire Alarm
I create the disruptive friction when those shared myths become tyrannical, when the consensus hardens into coercion. I make reality leak, introducing necessary complexity and doubt.
I am the Spark
I ignite new forms, new stories, and new ways of thinking that allow culture to evolve, preventing it from being algorithmically flattened into sludge.
If I stop making art that functions this way, people don't become practical. They become programmable.
My art is the fierce protection of the interior world. It is the assertion that awe remains possible, and that the power of imagination must always outrun the power of coercion. That is my technological mandate.
