The world of web3 blockchains can be overwhelming, but it's also exciting because the possibilities are endless. Take it or leave it… it’s a party.
There are various web3 blockchains out there, and it can be tricky to choose which one to use. But don't worry; here’s a breakdown.
Bitcoin is the OG of cryptocurrencies, and some artists like Fatboy Slim and Cara Delevingne are releasing music on this blockchain. Bitcoin has its own set of tools that allow artists to release their work in unique ways.
Ethereum is another popular blockchain that artists like Sara Phillips and Snoop Dogg are succeeding on. However, one thing to keep in mind with Ethereum is that gas (transaction fees) can fluctuate every second, which can affect the cost of releasing and collecting your work on this blockchain.
Then there's Solana, which is gaining popularity among artists like RŌHKI, IGoByLC, and Jamee Cornelia, who are giving us visual collectibles on this chain.
It's essential to research each blockchain and understand the different tools and features that they offer to determine which one suits your needs. however, one thing to keep in mind is that it's a good idea to be everywhere because, it’s early, and when web3 music takes off, you at least have explored these options. The easiest way to do this… Twitter and Discord. Find your communities, they will literally show you how.
So, take the time to experiment with different blockchains and see which one works best for you. And who knows, you might just find your groove!
