Weekly I Ching - August 27 2023
PreambleIt feels like the pressure is on, and just when we need to rise to the occasion, exhaustion sets in. This is fated for all of us from time to time; it cannot be avoided. The Book of Changes tells us that one who lets their spirit be broken by exhaustion certainly has no success. Sometimes, all we can seek to do is to overcome a problem inwardly, in preparation to act outwardly at a more favourable time. Those who cultivate this inner approach to problem solving, without falling into m...

Weekly I Ching - November 9 2025
SummaryThe reading for this week is favourable. Abundance comes naturally, and those who understand the responsibility that comes with it are best fitted to maintain it. Reach for your goals, trust the competency of friends, and enjoy this time of harmony. The I Ching specifically gives us the image of a wagon this week. My interpretation is thus: when preparing for a large task or journey, we must be ready to set out with the supplies needed to ensure success. The wagon can safely handle a h...

Weekly I Ching - September 10 2023
PreambleA new dawn is here. Any turbulence or remnant darkness clears as the sun rises over the Earth, beginning a new day. This situation as described in the I Ching denotes a window of easy progress, coupled with widening clarity. It also is reminiscent of a strong, obedient individual in service of a wise ruler. It is under these conditions that great progress is made. This is a welcome change after a few weeks of cautionary readings from the Oracle. Go gently into the brightening day.Orac...

Limitation is a curious thing: a lake is limited by its shore, the seasons by solstice and equinox. Human life too is something finite, and whilst our potential may be limitless, what can be manifested in a single life is not. These limitations are inescapable, and we as free beings are given a choice to either voluntarily accept limits on ourselves, or to have them enforced on us by external circumstance.
The guidance this week is to see that these restrictions are not bad, and that we will be met with good fortune if we seek to place limitations on ourselves, but not on others. Start with yourself. This is how one becomes great.
1st: H,H,T > Stable Yang
2nd: H,H,H > Stable Yang
3rd: H,T,T > Stable Yin
4th: T,H,H > Stable Yin
5th: T,H,T > Changing Yang
6th: H,T,H > Stable Yin
The hexagram for this week is Chieh, Limitation.

Above: K’an, Water
Below: Tui, Lake

The fifth line in change give us hexagram 19 as an echo, adding a positive note to the idea of “limitation” this week. We have a full moon and lunar eclipse on the 14th. Be mindful of turbulence, the seatbelt sign is on!
Blessings to you all.
