Today's piece focuses on a very simple theory of surfer mentality. To elaborate more, this theory stands good for all the overthinker friends of mine, i am part of the same clan. This theory states that when a surfer encounters a wave, he rides along the wave, even if he is fully aware that it will eventually end.
In life, we tend to either live in the future or live in the past. We seldom live in the moment. There are times when the surfer may have to wait for a long period to ride along & enjoy a good wave. There are times while enjoying, the surfer gets hit by the wave and goes underwater, only to come up and get hit by another wave. But that doesn't keep him from trying and being hopeful of encountering a long happy way. Sometimes, a lot of patience is required till the surfer awaits his next wave. But, he is aware that patience and proper positioning is what is needed while he prepares for his next wave, rather than just passively waiting.
Even after getting underwater or hit by a wave, the surfer tries again. The only pre- requisite is not to remain at shore and get in the water. So, folks lets not get scared if we fall or fail, lets be like the surfer who doesn't simply wait at shore, by the mere fear of failing, but instead tries and enjoys a good surf. Lets live to the fullest of each moments! Do not overthink each moment, each task. DO NOT BE AT THE SHORE. Be like the water, flow with it, enjoy the good parts, float along the tough parts. It eventually passes.
So folks, keep going. Keep trying new things, keep fulfilling your dreams. Don't hold yourself back and most importantly don't underestimate yourself.
Cheers to that!
Let's adopt this thinking and ride along the journey of life.
