Today we dive into a thought piece by the brilliant Krishnamurti titled "The Observer and the Observed". (Source below). When applying his theory to the modern day, it challenges the digital user agreement that we all have unconsciously agreed to, in which our emotions are just pop-up notifications, and there is a separate part of us swiping through them, deciding which to open and which to ignore.
Imagine you are scrolling through the Instagram profile of your psyche looking at all of the happy moments of your life, when suddenly pop-up notifications keep arising informing you of a DM from @anxiety asking "Why did you say that to your friend last night?". Suddenly, it feels like you need to craft a reply for this other account, @anxiety. But in the wisdom of Krishnamurti, the 'you' that's feeling the feels (@anxiety) and the 'you' reacting to them are sharing the same account- there's no split at all. Your thoughts and feelings aren't random spam; they are an integral part of you.
The goal of this thought is to change the way one relates to their emotions. Instead of trying to control or judge them from a third-person perspective, acknowledge them as a core part of your codebase. When we recognize this, it is the first step towards understanding that the physical division we create within ourselves is the root of our suffering and issues.
Embracing Krishnamurti's perspectives in the modern day means we need to void that bad user agreement, update our operating system, remove the bugs, and integrate the observer with the observed.... Accept the pop-ups as they come. After all, the most elegant technology is the one that understands itself completely.

My inspiration for Degenerate Philosopher’s Society. The ability to completely enlighten one’s soul with only a few words is the greatest human superpower to me. https://x.com/trungtphan/status/1778857607526060234?s=46
