Moloch - The root of all problems?
1/ I listened to @Liv_Boeree on the @lexfridman podcast talking about #Moloch. It inspired me to write a Thread about this phenomenon & why this ancient demon god is responsible for so many problems we face today. 🧵 I hope you enjoy the thread and my thoughts about #MolochMoloch in Metropolis 1927Who is Moloch?2/ #Moloch originates from the Canaanite religion and was a demon god who gave power to tribes to win wars but in return, they had to sacrifice their children to Moloch. The essence is...

The Crypto Revolution - Josh Rosenthal on the Bankless HQ Podcast
Joshua Rosenthal PhD in History is a crypto-native historian and talked about the parallels between the Renaissance, American Revolution, and #Crypto and how we can learn from history. If you missed it, this article is for you:Let’s travel to medieval timesImagine yourself as a medieval peasant. After centuries of static, permission society ruled by kings, two decentralized technologies converged: Ledger-based financial primitives (double-entry bookkeeping) and new permissionless communicatio...

Brave New World vs. 1984
How will the future look? "1984" or "Brave New World"? 🧵 A thread comparing the two books and my take on which course we're currently taking. Before we talk about our current path, let's understand the content of both books. "#Crypto/web3 is only for greedy traders & has no use cases". Total BS and today I want to give you an example of why I love this ecosystem so much: https://indexafrica.io is the first African indexer on @graphprotocol and invented for Decentralized Philanthropy (#DePhi).
First, let's look at the @graphprotocol: The Graph is an indexing protocol for querying networks like #Ethereum and #IPFS via subgraph. If you are an indexer you receive query fees and indexing rewards each time someone uses the query you indexed

If you don't have to infrastructure run a node as an indexer, you can delegate money (#GRT token) to an indexer and strengthen the protocol security and scalability of the indexer. Additionally, the delegator receives a share from the indexer query fees

So far this is standard graph implementation. Now index-africa.eth comes along and contributes a portion of the indexer rewards to the https://goodworkfoundation.org. As a delegator, you also earn a portion of the rewards that your stake generated. Sounds abstract? It means that donations towards Good Work Foundation can be made via delegating GRT to Index Africa: Ending the constant need for further donations because the rewards are will be used continuously to fund Good Work Foundation.
It's a Win-Win-Win Situation: Index Africa earns from rewards, delegators can stake for as long as they want & receive delegator rewards, and most important: Good Work earns rewards & has a continuous stream of donations through rewards = Decentralized Philantrophy #DePhi

Since launching in January 2021, Index Africa has been testing the prototypical #DePhi model and to date has already impacted the lives of over 200 rural learners in South Africa. In time, these students will gain #web3 skills to leverage the power of the new ecosystem.

It's time to redefine #philanthropy by moving away from legacy donation models and towards a new model, where Delegators can play a part in funding entire learning centers and #web3 academies like @graphrica. True #Ubuntu mentality.
