Reflecting on the Black Blockchain Summit
Community Update: Reflecting on the Black Blockchain Summit in D.C. Context: I’m Maceo, the founder of We Them Media, an organization focused on empowering Black voices through Web3 and blockchain technologies. We aim to bring Black communities on-chain, supporting them in building our sovereign future in the digital space. Right now, I’m thinking deeply about how to turn We Them Media into a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and how we can support Black folks in taking control of t...

Announcing the Farcaster Builder Bootcamp: Funding the Future of Mini-Apps & African Innovation
⚠️ Update (Sept 1, 2025): We have decided to pivot the Farcaster Builder Bootcamp into the We Them Media: Content Creator Bootcamp (MVP). Instead of building new apps, this new structure centers creators as the drivers of adoption — experimenting with mini-apps, telling stories, and amplifying culture. 👉 The new start date is TBD (timeline will be shared by the end of September). In the meantime, we’re putting our energy into internal restructuring and covering ETH Safari & ETH Accra over th...

ETH Denver 2024: A Milestone Project
What is We Them Media? We Them Media is a collective of talented creatives across the globe, on a mission to communicate the viability of blockchain technology as a tool to expand the agency of Black communities to have a new level of control over our economies, culture, and ideas. We create a much-needed safe space for BIPOC folks to familiarize themselves with Web3 and learn how they can contribute to the ecosystem while remaining in a supportive and inclusive community. For those already i...

The first week of September has been nothing short of electric for the We Them Media team. From Lagos to Accra to Safari, we’ve been on the ground capturing stories, streaming live moments, and spotlighting the builders shaping Africa’s Web3 future.
We started the week by revisiting highlights from the Web3 Lagos Conference — a weekend filled with fresh ideas, inspiring talks, and conversations that continue to ripple through the ecosystem.
By September 3rd, our media team was already in Accra, cameras rolling at the ETH Accra Hackathon. Day 1 set the tone with a lineup of impactful speakers:
Temi (Filecoin): broke down why Filecoin is redefining data storage. Beyond decentralization, its support for versioning and AI use cases shows how infrastructure is moving from theory into practice.
Simon Emmanuel (ENS): shared how ENS simplifies wallet addresses and builds digital identity across Web3, making Ethereum more user-friendly.
Afrishan: unpacked the role of stablecoins in Africa. With adoption hitting 90% in Nigeria, they’re powering trade, freelancing, and savings — but not without questions around centralization and dependency on USD policy.
0xKofi (Dune): dived into the power of on-chain data, showing how querying and visualizing transactions can unlock insights for builders and researchers.
Chiidubem (LiskHQ): walked us through the Lisk ecosystem, its position as an L2 for growth markets, and its developer-friendly infrastructure.
We later caught up with Simon from ENS, who left us with a gem:
“Ghana feels chill, safe, and full of smart people and hidden treasures.”
Day 2 saw Simon return with a hands-on ENS workshop, while Day 3 captured hackers in their creative flow — building, testing, and pushing boundaries for the hackathon. The day rounded off with the Base Workshop, where Damilare(Base west Africa Lead) broke down how Base is powering onchain communities across Africa.
Later that day, JED XO hosted another Spotlighting African Builders session, this time with Kwame Stalwart from AYA HQ. He spoke on blockchain’s relevance in Africa, the value of community, and his personal journey in the space.
The evening closed with our team at the SheFi Africa Accra Summit, connecting with powerful voices like:
Joe Dor (SheFi Africa Lead)
Folajindayo (Zerocard Founder)
Miss Purple (Community Manager & Content Creator)
While Accra was buzzing, we also had Aziz on the ground at ETH Safari in Kenya, streaming coverage and bringing our community closer to the action.
From Nigeria to Ghana to Kenya, this week showed the strength of Africa’s Web3 energy. Builders are not just talking — they’re experimenting, teaching, and laying foundations for a decentralized future.
And We Them Media? We’ll keep amplifying their voices and covering their stories every step of the way. 💚
