• Aave Discussion; Aave v3 Ethereum. New deployment vs Aave v2 Upgrade

  • We want to start a community conversation regarding upgrading to Aave v3 on Ethereum while keeping Aave v2 running.

  • Aave v3 was introduced on March 20, 2022, employing a multi-chain technique that comprised Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Fantom, and Harmony. Aave was new on specific networks (Arbitrum, Optimism, Fantom, Harmony), while Aave v2 was already in place on others (Polygon, Avalanche).

  • We set the following goals for this upgrade:

  • On-chain integrators of v2 should not be affected. All protocol addresses (Pool, aTokens, debt tokens, etc.) remain unaltered. All interfaces are backwards-compatible with v3 enhancements.

  • Off-chain integrators are not affected. In addition to the previous addresses and interfaces, all events will remain compatible, with new events added "on top" of the new features.

  • As little tech overhead as possible, but expect it. Currently, maintaining the Aave liquidity protocol entails supporting 4 distinct systems in production, across 10 deployments: Aave v1, Aave v2 Ethereum, Aave v2 Avalanche/Polygon (slightly different from Ethereum), and all instances of Aave v3.

  • BGD's role in the Aave community is to provide a critical/expert perspective on Aave tech.

  • We aim to be upfront with the community and propose key subjects for debate on the forum, so the community may choose to utilize our research.

• Balancer Proposal; [BIP-XX] Karpatkey Balancer Treasury CU Proposal

  • This is a proposal to provide limited delegation of the Balancer treasury to Karpatkey DAO in a non-custodial, trust-minimised way.

  • Karpatkey is a DeFi native DAOBalancer Proposal constantly evolving to maximise capital efficiency, manage risk, increase security and optimise yield by combining industry-leading research with best-in-class tooling to prevent collateral liquidation.

  • Karpatkey suggests a Balancer DAO Treasury Core Unit (CU). If Balancer DAO accepts this effort, we'll recruit full-time contributors and train them under our oversight and guidance.

  • As a mark of our long-term commitment and financial alignment with Balancer, the performance fee would be levied in BAL and vested for one year. We will hold the obtained BAL and transparently report on our BAL holdings.

• ENS Temp Check; Linguistic Discrimination 

  • This temp check suggests that the surcharge on 3 & 4 character long domain names is unintentionally discriminating against East Asian names

  • The discussion post suggests that an American name like Joan Smith would cost 100x less than 김일성 but they both represent a full name

  • This would suggest that even though a Korean user would be registering his full name he would be paying more just because of the common use of their own language 

  • This discussion post quotes the ENS constitution in saying that it “unfairly discriminates against name owners’ ability to extend, transfer, or otherwise use their names.”

  • The discussion post suggests that ENS could limit the surcharge or exclude Asian characters from the surcharge.

  • This proposal is asking for $10,000 worth of POKT, $5,000 of which will be converted into USD immediately 

  • The summary of this proposal is to receive a grant to explore mechanisms that would reward Ideas and Suggestions

  • If an idea from either telegram or discord gets upvoted enough to be used by the POKT team, the creator of the idea will get paid a discretionary amount from the team

  • This would incentivize participation, growth, and the sharing of ideas

  •  This would also increase the quality of ideas because it would incentivize actionable and reasonable ideas to be brought up in order to get paid

  • This experiment will run for about 4 months

• Pokt Proposal; Reward and Decentralize (RAD)

  • This proposal seeks a proposal of 600,000 POKT for one-off contributor activities with the initial goal of supporting contributions to the V0/V1 protocols.

  • The motivations behind this proposal are as follows:

    • Provide more paid opportunities for DAO participants and community members 

    • Further progressively decentralize Pocket Network’s workforce 

    • More closely fuse Pocket Network, Inc. team activities with the DAO

    • Learn through small-scale experiments how to optimize contributor experiences and work collaborations, including onboarding, payments, etc.
