It’s safe to say I won’t forget your face,
even as this city becomes
louder than my reasons for staying.
The world is so crazy
what are you fighting for?
Fighting for a friendship you will never have?
I wish I did.
I don’t want to feel this pull,
but it keeps tightening with every block I walk.
And you’re measuring your minutes
by a clock that’s blinking eights,
while I learn the weight of empty chairs.
But this table for one has become
bearable.
I now take comfort in this.
all i wanted to say was.....
