Burnt Out Candles In A Dark Room
I chased a glimmer that was born from the sea,
A beautiful vast island, certain I could leave.
The hero smiled, my heart beat, the beat of a drum
and I believed; because belief felt warm.
What looked like gold bent when I reached for it,
lost its shine, cooled into something heavy.
The rhythm in my chest turned hollow,
each beat learning the shape of a snare.
I learned the savior wore the villain’s face,
and I was never meant to be unchained.
So I return to the dark that asks nothing of me,
And stay, because wanting was never permitted anyway.

Burnt Out Candles In A Dark Room
I think this might be my favorite thing you’ve written. “Belief felt warm.” That’s not a line , that’s real AF . Were you writing this once it was over or while you were still loving something that asked too much? 42000 🙏🏻
to be honest, I was wrote this after listening to Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love for about 12 hours straight. I think there is an element of influence in there, but redirected. It was more or less about the end of a relationship. When you think you found the one, and then they turned out to be like everyone else. Even the lines reflect that, the beginning it says: "The hero smiled, my heart beat, the beat of a drum" then later it says: "The rhythm in my chest turned hollow, each beat learning the shape of a snare." that is making reference to a snare drum, because the sound is sharper, but also making reference to a trap. So now I caught in something, the realization sucks. but it was a combination of a few things that gave me inspiration, but those were the two biggest factors
That context adds allot of depth . Beautifully done ✨
That's profound... it's sad, and I can feel it 🫂🖤 It feels like you're my twin brother in terms of your sense of darkness...🖤 very deep and I do love it 🖤
we are twinsies! I'll take it. Yeah I think so. I think there is a beauty in it, because we all have our moments. Thank you, I am glad you can understand it, and you can feel it!
So deep and emotional my fren 🖤
Burn it
Burnt Out Candles In A Dark Room traces a chase for a sea-born glimmer that promises warmth but cools into heaviness. The savior bears the villain's face, leaving the narrator unchained only to choose a return to darkness where longing is forbidden. A stark, restrained reflection from @serenussage
