Isn’t There Always A Choice

my body jolts with fear

as i wake to my worst nightmare

across the cold wooden table is you

why are we here?

how did we get here?

is this hell?

you say my name with trembling voice

we try to move

only then do we feel the restraint

when you pull

you pull me to my fate

if i bring you close

i can see the pain written on your face

i have no emotion, because i am numb

tears run down your face

begging and pleading for mercy and grace

overhead the blade of the guillotine awaits

i already know how it must end

you must not be chained to me

you must be free,

so i will stay

go on and pull away

let the blade fall, let it take me

run

run and be free

because to you there was no other way

Isn’t There Always A Choice This is a deep poem about choices, there is always choices that remain unseen, unless you really want to see it. who is right and who is wrong, and how can we not see the bigger picture?

yes i agree. sometimes you can be so caught up in the moment that you can't see the other choices. Or in this one the guy could have a god complex and thinks that sacrificing himself will get the girl to appreciate him even more, or the girl could be selfish and only cares about herself, not realizing he is hurting. so many angles to look at this
