Today I had an in-depth talk with a friend working in NFT field. We are both fed up with the web3 founders who think internal management and communication are not important.
For example, his boss tweeted something like “We need performance, not communication. If you can’t get what I want, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.” just because some of the employees complain about not getting enough directions.
Same here. Recently I proposed a 4 days work week idea to my boss as I feel taking 2 days off (the weekend) is not enough for this kind of heavy, brain-consuming work. I only get to relax on Saturday and have to start preparing for my work on Sunday. Many of my colleagues are showing signs of burnt-out.
As much respect as he wants himself to look like, this proposal only gets accepted IF there’s a 20% salary drop, and it has to be a time-limited trial, and for a few colleagues.
The thing is, the proposal is not for us to have more holidays, it's to bring more productivity in a better work-life balance method and my theory is that 1 day off won't cause a reduction of productivity overall. If there's a salary drop, then we are not full-time employees anymore, of course we won't bring you the full-time work result.
Now we all think slavery is bad, but if you were a master 200 years ago you might feel absurd to not have slaves helping you while you keep them warm and fed. Here we are in 2022.
Under capitalism and corporation efficiency idealism, we are all slaves. It might take dozens of years to progress, how do those slaves like us gonna live?
