Y2K Finance Earthquake介绍(Part 1)

Y2K Finance:
Wi...

First, consider this question: is game more important or Finance more important? Personally, I think the game itself is more important. I'm an avid gamer myself, and I prefer to play FPS games.

But when I got to Web3 and GameFi I thought, what the hell is that? Unlike traditional games, today's Gamefi is all play to earn, and the games are mostly shoddy and don't focus on the game.

Traditional games have the advantage of traditional games, they don't focus on Finance, they focus on how to make the game good. Take any traditional game, both the game mode and the graphics are better than Gamefi.
The granddaddy of Gamefi: Axie. It really pioneered play to earn and did Finance well. But what's happening now is that players are losing. (No demeaning Axie)

Is the economic model poorly designed? I don't think so. When the heat passes, what will be left? I think it's about getting back to the basics and the game itself.
This is the best Web3 game I've seen so far. First of all, its graphics are better than many Gamefi's, and that's why it appeals to me.

Wildcard is a hybrid of MOBA, real-time strategy, and collectible card game where players compete surrounded by live, interactive fans and spectators. The game is the brainchild of Paul Bettner, veteran video game developer renowned for developing games including Age of Empires, early VR hit Lucky’s Tale ,as well as co-creating the wildly popular, Words with Friends together with his brother David.
With a penchant for exploring and harnessing new technology, Bettner is now entering the world of Web3 gaming, intending to create an engaging game franchise with fun at its core.
“Web3 platforms present a tremendous opportunity to build entertainment that can include, empower, and onboard millions of new players,” said Bettner, cofounder and CEO of The Wildcard Alliance, in a statement. “Despite this opportunity, the current focus of Web3 game development tends to be on finance over fun, economy over engagement, currency over community. With Wildcard, we’re focused on fun first, building a next-generation ‘spectator sport’ to welcome the entire community of competitors, collectors, sponsors, and fans to play together.”
The Wildcard Alliance was cofounded by a married couple, Paul and Katy Drake Bettner, joining forces professionally, combining their talents to create a unified ecosystem of intellectual property that spans interactive entertainment and linear media.
Together, they have assembled a world-class team of game industry veterans with decades of triple-A development experience, now working alongside highly sought-after storytellers and IP creators from massive media franchises such as Star Wars, DC Comics, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The game has been in development for over 5 years and is currently being playtested daily.
Wildcard has raised A $46 million Series A round led by Paradigm, which also included Polygon Studio and Griffin Gaming Partners. Paradigm's investment in The Wildcard Alliance underscores a shared belief that interactive entertainment will be a major driver of Web3 growth. Paradigm is known for supporting future disruptive Web3 and encryption projects.
They value fun over finance. They value engagement over economy. They value community over coins. These guiding principals are especially important as they embrace the new technologies and platforms collectively known as “Web3”.
They love building new things. Emerging Web3 technologies present compelling opportunities to explore and expand frontiers in video game design, storytelling, player agency, distributed value, and community governance. They are thrilled to pursue these frontiers, but only insofar as they further the vision and mission of Wildcard.
For many, web3 seems to be a solution in search of a problem. For Wildcard, web3 is (part of) the solution for how we deliver an even more fun, compelling experience.

Wildcard will be powered by Polygon, one of the leading chains for gaming and a platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. They are really looking forward to developing this game together with you all here. Playtesting is currently (and will be for a while) private & invite-only, so that they can process the feedback and not get overwhelmed, but this group will grow over time within our community.
