Use this to locate your opportunity inside the macro wave.

Region

1. Are you building in the U.S. (late-stage ICT, early-stage AI)?

2. In Europe (early cleantech wave, regulatory deployment phase)?

3. In Asia (manufacturing maturity, emerging local Web3 platforms)?

Industry

1. Are you in a legacy sector ripe for creative destruction (finance, mobility, media)?

2. Are you building in mainstream crypto (DeFi, RWAs, Stables)?

3. Are you building in an edge category that hasn’t found a dominant platform yet (ReFi, Web3 social, AI coordination)?

Focus

1. Is your product middleware?

2. Is your product infrastructure or application layer?

3. Are you solving for early adopters or future mass market?

Type of Technology

1. Are you still building for the mature 5th wave (Web2-style SaaS, centralized data stacks)?

2. Are you aligned with the emergent 6th wave (AI, green tech, ownership protocols)?

3. Are you in one or more of 6th wave areas?

Market Signals

1. Are you having problems with distribution?

2. Are competitors consolidating or fragmenting?

3. Is the biggest challenge education, regulation, or infrastructure?

Cycle Leverage

1. Are you taking advantage of low capital costs (early cycle)?

2. Are you creating anti-fragile value in a downturn (Turning Point)?

If you answered 2. or 3. more than twice, which means you're building along the lines of “emerging,” “infrastructure,” “6th wave,” or “anti-fragile” — you’re probably in a timing sweet spot.

Take it with a grain of salt. Market is changing quickly. Although it doesn't mean we should not aim to understand our place in it and in the cycles.

This short list of questions is supposed to make you think and revisit the cycle-theories because world is changing faster than I imagined last year when I wrote them. It's here to give you answers. Those must come from you.
