Seen so many people talking about how good the Slingshot app is, so I just had to check it out.
And honestly?
It's okay.
What I liked:
• Signing up was pretty easy and smooth. I also like the six-word seed phrases they introduced for the wallets.
• The UI is decent; UX not so much.
• The option to buy with your Google Pay and debit card is also pretty convenient.
What I'm not a fan of:
1. The minimum deposit
[The minimum deposit is $5 on Solana & supported EVM chains and $400 on Ethereum.]
The $5 for Solana & supported EVM chains is reasonable.
But $400 on Ethereum? That’s just plain wild.
Note: If you send less than the minimum, your funds aren’t lost - they just won’t show until you top up.
I get they're might probably be doing this for gas reasons, but still not ideal.
2. The meme-heavy vibe
Slingshot allows you to buy BTC and other utility tokens, but memes feel like the main event.
From the home page to the search section, it's memes that are being pushed.
Kinda undercuts the broader potential of the app, imo.
My final take:
Overall, it's a decent app to onboard friends into crypto, especially with the card-buy option.
But they really need to improve the UX, ease up on the meme-first approach, and rethink those deposit limits.
P.S. I saw that Disney token at 800K but wanted to sit it out with all the burns I've gotten from past buys - might be at $1M right now, but I'm honestly not bothered.
