We had finished work and set out for a village walk from our front door, which is definitely an advantage here that we can park the car in the drive and then not use it from Friday until Monday. Well that isn't always the case of course but we definitely walk a lot more since we moved to this village and walk we did last night.
The weather earlier in the day had been horrid but the evening shaped up to be quite decent, albeit cold and requiring layers to be worn. So my coat was a necessity and the Ricoh in my pocket. One of it's great features is the macro mode and I wanted to put that to use. One of the reasons I bought the camera over just using my iPhone as a camera is that the lens is great, it's a range of f2.8 to f16 so the depth of field is really good and the details I thought were very impressive when studying the photos on the computer later last night.
Let's have a look at the first photo
Near our house, which is amongst a set of newly built houses are a mishmash of country lanes that have been here for many years. Along their flanks are a plethora of blackthorn, hawthorn, beech, willow and oak trees, probably others that I haven't identified. Plenty of close-up photography opportunities around here.
